MortUreen again broke jail last Sunday by cutting a hole through the ceiling of the jail and into the recorders office and made his escape. There was no one in the court bouse at the time, Janitor Nehran and family being away visiting. Green has not yet been apprehended and will probably give Clackamas county a wide berth. He was in jail awaiting the action of the grand jury on a charge of passing confederate money and is a tough case, who Bhouid be in the penitentary on general principles. On Jan. 19, quite a number of the young friends of Chas. Drew met at the borne of Mr. and Mrs. B. S. Bellomy, in honor of the occasion of Charles' birth day. The fore part of the evening was spent in games, after which a delicious oyster supper was served by his mother, Mrs. Bellomy. B. Smith seconding the motion to postpone. The house then adjourned to meet Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Our members from Clackamas county are located us follows: Hon. Geo. C. Brownell is at the right of the presi dent, second row and first seat, and is quartered at the Willamette hotel. Hon. Alonzo Gesner, joint senator from Clackamas and Marion counties, is located farther to the right, and any one from Clackamas county wishing to consult with Senator Gesner will find him a vety pleasant man to talk with. Our representatives are seated near each other in the outside row to the light of Ihe speaker, about midway from the front and are quartered as fol lows : C. B. The senate has got nicely down lo woik. There were a number of resolu tions passed, after which the introduction of bills was in order. Senator McGinn, of Multnomah, introduced the first bill of the session. It bad reference to Mult nomah county, fixing the compensation of certain of her county offices. During the day there were forty bills introduced in the senate. Senator Brownell's first bill was one Laving for its object the abolishment of the railroad commission. President Simon announced the stand, ing cu1111nitte.es this afternoon, Clacka mas being well remembered, Senator Brownell being chairman of railroads, second on judiciary and is placed on federal relations and medicine, etc. The Senator already seems quite at home on the floor of the senate. The bouse does not start off so rapidly, having spent the entire day in introducing, discussing and passing a lot of resolutions. The trouble seems to be there are a lot of fellows in that body that enjoy bearing themselves talk, and let no opportunity slip to talk on every thing that comes up. Tfiey will learn somethings before the session is over. Tlll'KSIIAY. The senate was called to order at 10 o'clock. A number of resolution were passed, among which was one to adjourn till Monday at 2 P. M. This was done on account of the state printer not being able to furnish any printed bills before Monday. Before adjourning, howeyer, bills were introduced swelling the num ber for t.ie week to seventy-eight. Senator Brownell introduced one today having for its object the creating of a bank inspector with salary assessable from the banks. The duty of this in spector shall be to examine banks and when found to be in a failing condition shall be closed. Adjourned till Monday at 2 P. M.
