A Correspondent That Favors a Five-Mill
Road Tax and Road Engineer.
Bobinos, Jan. 1. We have been hav
ing some cool, windy weather the past
week, but not very disagreeable.
About an inch of snow foil here on the
night of Dec. 30.
The prevailing diseases of Borings are
iiininp", whooping-cough and lyplioid
pneunionia. Miss Ada Rich, daughter ol Elder U.
P. Rich, is seriously ill with typhoid
pneumonia, but is slowly improving.
Miss Hurshell has again commenced
school after spending a week's vacation
with her parents at Troutdale
Orville Boring, who is attending the
Portland University, is home spending
the holidays. He will return to school
soon.
Edward Boring seeais lo find great at
tractions at Hubbard. Look out, Ed?
What Hubbard will loose Damascus will
gain.
Since w last wrote we have not ice J
many communications on the road ques
tion. Still we have plenty of kickers and
they seem to b on top. Everyone has
a different idea. We think the present
road system is far preferable to the old
system of road work. We noticed one
commnnication in the last Enterprise
speaking in favor of putting the road
work under a competent engineer. We
think it far better than the present sys
tem We Are in favor of levying a 5 mill
road tax il the road work is put in charge
of a competent engineer. There is plenty
of timber in this rart of Clackamas
countv, and the roads could be planked
cheaper than graveled. Gravel would
have to be hauled from one to five miles
w hile timber can be had in the vicinity
of the road limits.
We think we have a competent county
court, and whatever course they see fit
to adopt we will roll up our sleeves, do
no kicking and go to work. Askix.
Logan Locals.
Dec. 31 .Mr. Tulin has built a new
porch on his house.
Several ol our farmers are busy clear
ing land.
Clem Clark is still building fence.
Lewis Hampton has returned to Wills
burg to attend school.
Mr. and Mrs. Fisher of Salem have
ended their vacation with us.
Ollie Fisher, was given a surprise
Friday evening by her old friends. The
time was passed merrily with dancing.
The debate was well attended. The
literary program consisted of one recita
tion and the paper ably edited by A. M.
Kirchem. The society extended a vote
of thanks to Mr Cahl for the loan of
lamps. The question chosen for next
meeting, "Resolved, That intellectual
culture promotes morality. Miss Lizzie
Wilson leader on the affirmative and
Miron Bahler on the negative. O. D.
Bobbins was appointed editor.
Rev. Rogers preached in the Logan
church Sunday morning and evening.
Quite a number of people were visiting
on Sunday.
Mr. Sohn Schuttel entertained a
crowd ol both sexes. Peabl.
Our Candid Advice.
It is seldom that we appear in the roll
of spiiitual adviser or family physician
but there are times when we feel justi
fied in calling the attention of our many
subscribers to an article of true merit.
We feel justified in saying that Moore's
Revealed Remedy contains more actual
merit than any medicine it has ever
been our good fortune to test. One trial
will make you as enthusiastic as the
writer.
Are You Iuterested in Eleetricitrl
At last we are to have an electrical
magazine. The science of electricity has
developed so rapidly that the publishers
of Electric Power have decided to change'
their journal into the form of a monthly
magazine after January 1st, 1895. This:
is an important move and will give the
public the opportunity of keeping abreast
of the times in matters electrical. Thev
have already secured for the coming
year a number of the best known writers
in electrical literature and propose to be
in the tront rank on all points connected
with electricity. There are numerous
trade paper, and journals devoted to
electricity , but as yet no one has had
the courage to publish a magazine de
voted to that science, and Electric Power
will have the field to itself, and undoubt
edly is making a wise move. The sub
scription price will remain the same,
$2 00 per year, 20 cents per copy.
The November issue is devo'ed to the.
papers, reports and general news of the '
Street Railway Convention in Atlanta,
and contains quite a number of excellent
portraits.
Home-made bread is recognised as
the very best at all times and the cus
tomers of J. Egle the Shively building
baker assert that they can not tell the
difference between his bread and that
made at home unless it be that his is
jtibt a little the better. But don't tell
your wife that.

the reduction in price.
