During the last week a number of par tie hare been digging into the old In dian graves by the wagon road Mow the CluckuniHS near the Klectric line bridge and have taken therefrom quite a number of old coins, medals and other relics including old flint lock muskets. Parties paaiug stale that the grave desccrutors have left the bones which wont thrown from the graves lying ex posed in the road where they have been trumped in the mud. Indian bones though they were, it would seem as though those who displaced them should at least have again placed them under ground. There will be a lawn social for the benefit of Co. K'-ldotn is such a chance afforded an audience as was presented Isst week in the M. K. church when Kev. J. S. Smith of Ashland, formerly chaplain of the stale peuiU-ntiary in Kansas, lectured on the above subject. It Is very much to 1 regieKed that this should have clashed with the Union meeting of young ssople in the Baptist church, and had the date of that meeting been known earlier, such a misfortune would have avoided. ' '"lies of criminals, the ques "'tted to ask of The ... tiom chaplain li pe. them and tho answers they make; u.v story of an old man coming to the prison in search of his son and the effect upon him when, guided by the chaplain, he found him at work in the prison enclos ure, were all so interesting and profit able that one could have wished every young person of our city could have been present. The lecturer stated that during his two years experience as chaplain, seventy-two per cent of those entering the urison said they traced their crimes to whiskey, while ninety- five per cent bad frequented the saloon. Mr. Smith has kindly consented to lecture again on the same subject in the near future, and no one who is interested in the young should miss it. Garhikl Sykes.
