There were 2800 votes cast, and so fur as counted they indicate a grand republican majority. Ira 8. Smith and D. L. Keyt, republi cans, are elected by 400 plurality. The district republican ticket is elected by about the same vote. Tho entire re publican tickot, from clerk to coroner, is elected by large majorities. This is the first time in six years that Polk county has elected republican represen tatives, A grand ratification will be bold In Dallas tomorrow evening. TIM.AMOOK TAX KS A HANI). Tiim mi 'ok, June 5. The vote In nine precincts out of the eighteen was: For governor Lord 31'), Gallowav 171, Kennedy 30, Pierce 215. For congress Hermann tt'M, Mi lief 1HI, Wuathitrford 1(12. Thirteen precinct out of 17 give for Joint represent aive, Yamhill and Tilla mook, Dver, fxip, 211; Guild, rep. 345; Help, dem., 'm, Private dispatches from Yamhill indicate Guild' election by 600 majority. The remaining pre cincts will bold much the same propor tion. The county ticket was badly scratched, 'the county populist elect a woman for school superintendent, and come close on other county ollicers. The democrat elect the judgo and clerk. MAI1ION HOI.II roU IIKI). Rai.xm, June 6 In 32 precincts the leading populist candidate received 1703 votvs. which may be taken as more than the full strength of the party in Marion county. All but three precincts give the following vote : For governor Lord 3242, Galloway Ii7, Pierce IMfl. For superintendent of puolic instruc-tion-Irwin 2727, Jory 11117, Reid Ift-IH. For attorney generul Idleman 2!M.'I, Holmes 1470. Ol instead 12L'0, Bright 122. UMATILLA DON'T LIKE POPULISM. Pknulkton, June 5. Umatilla county has gone republican by about 400 plu rality, except, probably, for county school siiKtrintendent and recorder, The populist polled quite a large vote. Matlock, dem,, is defeated by Price, rep. Ellis has a good plurality for con gress. Home precinct show heavy pop ulist gains. The republicans voted a straight ticket, while the democrats went much to the populist. WASHINGTON COl'NTY IN LINK. HiiiJiioHO, June 5. All the returns have been received here, but the count will not be finished until tomorrow. The total nutnlrttr of votes cast was 3000, against 31M) two years ago. It I esti mated that the straight republican ticket polled 172 votes against 500 for the democratic and 1100 for the populist ticket . The county ticket is republican by majorities ranging from 137 to 1000. VOTING AND HIGH WATKH. Tux Dallxs, June 5. The election was very quiet in this city and attracted less attention than any for years past. The extreme high a ster and the inunda tion of the town demanded the time of all. Instead ef voting they put in their time saying the proerty exposed to the rapidly rising water. But notwith standing the outward asct of qmetude nearly every voter found the opKrtunity to cast his ballot. No returns have been received from the precincts throughout the county as yet, but all indications poinf to a heavy republican majority It is thought that the republicans will elect the entire county ticket, and will give heavy majority for tiie district and state ticket. Conservativeestimates bused on the opinions of the leading men of the county, give the county about M0 republican niujority. There was little scratching done. The .topulirta did not poll as large a vote as they had counted on, and they will not disturb the peace of either of the other parties to any ap preciable extent. Their legislative, as well as the state and county tickets, are hoitolcssly snowed under, Ellis had an easy victory over Raley. BKNTON KKPl'BI.ICAN KEI'KKSKNTATIVK. Corvallis, June 5. The election of republican joint senator and joint repre sentatives from Benton and Lincoln and a republican representative from Benton and Lincoln and a republican ropresen- j tat ive from Benton is conceded by the demixTuls The state ticket is close. MAI.HKI H IS DIVIDKl). Ontaiiio, June 5. The republicans elected their county tickot and the demo crats the representatives. King, the populist democrat nominee, carried the countv for joint senator. This is con ceded from the returns at hand, JOSKPIIIKX IS IN LINK. Chant's Pass, June 5. At dark to night, with one precinct to hear from, and which will not affect tbe result, 1500 votes have Uvu counted v ith a result as follows : For Lord 640, Galloway 270, Pierce 500. This vote represents very accurately that on the remainder of the state ticket but with a larger margin in favor of Hermann tor congress. In the county vote a majority from 80 to 150 is shown in favor of the republicans. The repub licans captured every olliue except county judge, for which they bad no candidate. They have elected all by good majorities, except the representative, the vote of which will be somewhat closer. It is sure that Miss Alice Carson, a most estimable young lady, lias been elected school superintendent by a majority of 230. Hurman is elected clerk over Lundy by 400 majority, The populists are feeling very blue tonight over their defeat, having worked very hard. They were sure at least of a part of the offices. POPULISTS CAPTl'BB JACKSON, Jacksonville, June 5. The doubt and uncertainty that hung over the elec tion last night have cleared a way, show ing that the populists have elected their entire county ticket, excepting the SWETLANirS KANDIES, You Morrison Hi, Between U k 3d, Portland. school superintendent. Gu. Nw bery, republican, (selected to that office. 0. II. Holt, populist candidate for state senator, and Neulon, sipulint representa tive are elected. Dunn, republican and Marksbury, populist, lor representative are in doubt, with probiliiies in favor of the opulisls. Benson, republican candidate for district attorney, has been probably elected. This old democratic town gave big republican majorities. MKDPOKU VlI KB STHAIGIIT Mniiroai), June 6. Election yesterday passed off quietly, and this morning the result was a surprise to all. The popu list who had been the victors, were over come with joy. The official canvass of the two Medford precincts was completed at a lute hour this morning, and showed great populist gains, but they gave Lord 173 majority over Galloway and 153 over Pierce. AT IIKHMANN'S IIOMK. Roskiikuo, June 5. A careful estimate of the vote in IXiuglas county places the pluralities of the candidates on the re publican stale ticket from 250 to 590. OLD LINN BKI'l'IILICAN. Albany, June 6. Complete returns from Linn county, except one precinct, give Lord 1847, Galloway 10fi4, Pierce 1401. All republicans on the state, district and legislative ticket have plurali ties about the same. Wolverton for supreme judge, has 1HU2, Boise 1223, and Bennett I14U. Every republican on tbe county ticket is elected. LANK SPEAKS PLAIN. Ei'oknk, June 5. Returns from 26 out of 39 precinc's in this county are now in, and show the largest republican pluralities ever known here. Every man on the republican ticket has been elected heyond tbe shadow of a doubt. The pluralities will range from 300 to 700. The republican state ticket will have large pluralities. The best judges estimate that Lord and Kim-aid have bOO plurality each, and Leeds a little less. Hermann has about 750, and Irwin will have about 200 more than Reid. The senator and three represen tatives are all republican. Th populist probably cast 1100 votes all told. Ml'LTNOMAIl IS SLOW. -'i 't . Portland, June 7. At midnight the total vote of all but 12 of the 77 precincts had been received. It was 14,357, and the precincts yet to hear from will bnmc it close to 16.000. Fifty-nine complete and eight incom plete precincts gave Minto 53U3 and Sear 0108 votes, a majority for tbe latter of 805, which the returns from the twelve precinct yet to hear from will hardly reduce. For mayor, tbe complete vote of 46 precincts and incomplete vote of 7 pre cincts gave Frank 5075 and Ionian 5231, a majority of tSi4 for Frank. There were but five precinct unheard from. For state senator complete returns from 5S precincts and the unfinished count of seven precincts gave Simon 5752 aud Thayer 4829, a majority for Simon ot 923. Fu'teen precincts had not been heard from on the state seuator ship. For district attorney, 53 complete pre cinct and 8 incomplete precinct gave Hume 6657, and Muir 6407; Hume's ma jority 250. It w ill hardly be overcome by the 18 unheard-from precincts Complete returns from 37 precincts give the following result of tbe vote for circuit judge: Stephens IW24, Munly 3355 ; Stephens' majority, 560. At 2 o'clock this mornimt the 34th, 39th and 47th precincts had completed their count. They swelled Simon's total ma jority to 937, Sears' to 972, and Hume's to 350, and reduced Frank's lead to 67 T. They are all East Side precincts. Complete returns from 43 precincts gave the following vote for circuit judge : Munly 4253, Stephens 6136; Stephens' majority, 883. The vote of the same precincts for rep resentatives was: Republicans Beach 4590. Burke 4271, Cardwell 4262, Cole 44ti9, Long 4328, McCraken 4537, Myers 4352, Paxton 4115, Thompson 3664. Independent re publicansWheeler 1180, Tope 883. FIKBT COMPLRTK KKPUBLICAN. McMinnvillk, June 6. The entire republican county ticket is elected for the flint time in the history of the county. Only one democratic justice of the peace and one populist constable are elected in the county, and they only by fusion. Several republicans voted for Golloway, but more democrats voted for Pierce. FIRST TIMK IN HISTORY. Dallas, June 6. Old Polk and Dallas have given a clear republican sweep, probably the first time in her history. TRUK TO ITS NAMK. Toledo, June 6 . The republican state and congressional ticket carries Lincoln county by about 100 majority Have Heard of Them. THKE HOME n BOX The populists elect the sheriff and the democrats the clerk and tbe assessor. KKPUDIATEO AT IIOMK. Pknulkton, June 6. Twenty nine out of thirty two precincts give the following. The other three precinct will scarcely affect the pluralities. The vote is; For governor Lord 1533, Galloway 760, Pierce 1152. Jame A. Free of Pendleton is elected judge of the sixth district by 1000 ma jority. John L. Rand, rep., is elected prosecuting attorney in the sixth dis trict. A straight republican set of offi cer from state senator to coroner is chosen, except superintendent of schools. Miss Woodruff, pop., is re-elected to that position. Price, for state senator, Gur dune, Davis and Bhutrum are elected to the legislature. vote t coram.
