Mr. Thomson then jiave the tom-hers a abort talk about his trip to the World's Fair and the different sights which he mw. lie first visited the Transportation Building whore he saw every kind of ar ticle used, in locomotion either on land or sea. He next visited the government building and saw all the different kinds of guns. In the California building he saw a liberty bell compooed of oranges. In the Florida building ho saw jewelry made from alligator's teeth. Ho saw manuscripts of Columbus' time and an um containing the ashes of the Great Admiral. In the Spanish building was an anchor, hand turned and ornamented, one of the original anchors on Colum bus' ships. Mr. Thomson's talk waa very interesting and was enjoyed by all present. This was folluwtni by an in strumental solo by Miss Mark . Mr. A. C. Strange then read a paper on the subject, Methods of teach ing geography in country schools. He thought that the natural divisions of land and water should be taught by ob ject lessons. He is also an advocate of of the molding board. J 1 he association adjourned to meet at 1:30. The pupils of the Oswego schools de serve credit for the dinner which they were instrumental in providing for the teachers . After intermission music was fur nished by the Misses Klinefelter and Ziuiniermann. The question "How to Prevent Absence in theCountry Schools" waa presented bv Mr. Powell and called forth quite a discussion from the teachers. The elocution class recited a concert piece. Miss Bessie Evans recited, "Asleepat the Switch;" Mr. Chas. Elhrev talked on the subject of "Hygiene;" Messrs Powell, Hammond, Coleman and Miss Finley took paitin discussing this sub ject. The next meeting w ill be held at West Side Oregon City on the last Saturday in January. The program will be pub lished later. SCHOOL REPORTS. District No. 26, Union School, Damas cus. The first month of school closed Nov. 10, with an average attendance of 23. The only one who was neither tardy nor absent during the month was Victorine Wilson.
