action of India will make one less country
to use silver, and the demand for it will Im
decreased in just the proportion that India
was a silver consumer, and makes it that
much harder for this country to bolster up
the white metal.

The following true incident which hap
pened in a small town in Linn county a
few years ago will illustrate the advantage

entered and paid another five dollars that

in the end the property of the man who
brought it into tbe store and set it afloat.
While this bill circulated faster than it
would naturally do in the ordinary conduct
of business it serves as an illustration of
the good that money in circulation may do,
while that wbich is locked up the pocket or
the bank is doing no one any service.

The Clackamas County Horticultural So
ciety will hold its second meeting in this
city on the 15th of tiext month, and while
the subjects up for consideration are such
as are of special interest to fruit growers
the meeting has a special concern for all,
since ever)- one is interested in the fruit in

business man in the city should do all in
his power to promote the enterprise since
it will be an imortant factor in making the
