across Oak Ranch creek, which is the
only stream on the road from Forest
Grove to Mishawaka that is not bridged.

Government Land in Dkmand. Last
Mondav nine sections in town 4 north
range 8 west was thrown open to settle
ment and were seventeen timber and
homestead tilings were offered. This
land lies along the Nehalem and is con
sidered rich timber and agricultural land.
The survey was made by Henry Mel
drum who completed the survey about a
year ago, The land office was kept very
busy Monday there being over 20 timber
claim filings, 14 homesteads and one
pre emption.
