Tin fon"'oii)e; is a fiur-similc of an nflicial ballot fur Orcein 'itv
precinct No. 1 cnniploti'. The form is chanu'eil lucaiise llu c, luinns
of the paper an-not 1 n riioirji to contain the Lallot in one con
tinuous strip. I 'lit tho matter is the satin.' in rwrv tvspoet.
The l-allot is the same as will bo votcl in every precinct in tlio
county except that the precinct named u the head of the ticket will
le changed for the respective precincts and the nominees for con
stahies and justices of the peace will he changed in the diHercnt dis
tricts. Ahout "(,()()(.) of these Ballots will Be issued for (he election Juno
(. Half of these will he on colored paper and are to serve inorclv
as samples though they will he precisely like the Lallot to he voted
except as to the color of the paper, None of the colored hallots can
he voted.
The voter receives oik; white. Lallot from the judges of election
and with it retires to the Booth. He may if he chooses have a sample-
ballot with him which he has previously prepared at his leisure
and can mark the real ballot in the same manner. All the names
he does NOT wish to vote for must be cancelled, scratched out with
the indelible pencil provided in the booth or with pen and ink. If
the voter desires to voto for some name not printed on the ticket
he may write the name on the blank line provided for tho purpose.
The names NOT .SCRATCIIKD are the ones voted for But
care should be taken not to leave inore'unscratched names than you
are entitled to vote for. Except for representatives only one name
should be left for each oflice. If you wish to vote for a name not on
the ticket scratch nil the printed names ami write the one you want.
For representatives leave three unscratched.
It should be observed that the names are placed not according
to party or date of nomination but according to the position in the
alphabet of tho first letter of the surname. fSo under one ollico a re
publican may be named first, under the next a democrat and under
another a people's party candidate or a prohibitionist. Care should
be exercised to leave tho one intended to be voted for entirely with
out any cancelling mark.
If a voter spoil a ballot while preparing it in the booth he may
return it to the judges and got another clean one.
