There was entire good feeling between tint hands and their I einpliivcis but the weavers would not stand their boss and the company was not w illing to aci ede to a demand which was regarded us dictatorial , The hands were gien until Monday to return to work, except Lindsay, who was barred from entering the mill again. The weavers would not consent to re s'tniit work under Foreman llaigh. Monday, however, arbitration as a menus of harmonizing the difference whs suggested and both sides consented tu submit the matter to an arbitration boiud The committee appointed by the weuveiH to look after their interests consisted of Fred Mclzner, Charles liose, John Thomas, .lames Wilkinson and Arthur Ihedv. This committee hose W. W. Myers, G. K. II. Miller and John Shade to represent .them. On the part of the factory T. AV. Sulli van, II, C. Stevens and J. H.lturg liardt were selected. In case of being unable to agree tbcv were lo select a seventh member who should cast th.i deciding vote. Tho board of arbitration met in Fountain Hose com pany's room and the witnesses selected to iiive testimony before it occupied the council room adjoining. Mr, Sullivan was made chairman and Air, Mvots secretary of the board. Twenty-seven or twenty-eight witnesses wore heard. including Mr Haigh himself. This testimony was completed early in tlio evening. It, covered all points com plained of by the strikers. It was near midnight when the decision was reached. The arbitrators found that Ilaij-h had b"en guilty of using improper lan guage and that the errors in the credits for work had boon made. It also found that tho weavers had not treated the foreman with proper respect. While recommending a change of conduct on both sides the offense of the foreman, was deemed of sufficient importance to warrant tho conclusion of the board that Mr. llaigh tender ins resignation to the company to tako effect within sixt v davs and that tho weavers return to work un der him for that period. This would give tho company timo to got a now man for the place and the weavers could bettor afford to work under the present foreman sixty days longer than to cause the factory to close and themselves re- maln out of employment, TIiIh iIiicImIoii whh acccptiid by both ulilim and Tncaday muriiinx tin) factory w hiHtlti blew at the uniial hour uml work wan reauiiiiiil in all (liipartmenla im if there had lienn no Intnrriiption, Kvcrythlng in working ainootlily now.
