There have been two propositions sub mitted to the county court for making a progressive system of indexes for the assessment roll of the county so that every piece of land can be assessed to the proper owner. As it is there is con siderable land that escapes taxation through not being on the assessment roll. Assessor Noble has found many hundreds of acres not previously assessed and every year discoveries of other tracts are made. It would undoubtedly insure to the profit of the county to bo able to levy a tax on all the land within its boundaries owned bv individuals and corporations but it will cost considerable to gut that resul A man wbo has been doing similar worn in other counties offers to do the work here for $1500 and a share of the money the county will gain by reason of his dis coveries.
