Mr. and Mrs. A. Saunders of Molal'a
returned Thursday from a month's visit
with their daughter at Fossil in eastern
Oregon. Mr. Saunders is well pleased
with Wehfoot land after a season east of
the mountains. He has lived thirtv-four
years in Clackamas county and the dry
and timberless area lieyond the moun
tains holds no attractions for him.

A colored man by the name of Jordan
was arrested by Deputy United States
Miller Wednesday night and taken to
Portland. The charge against him was
selling liquor to Indians. He is also
charged with fishing between Saturday
and Monday, contrary to law. About
a year ago this man escaped from the
custody of the officer while being taken
to Portland, hy jumping from the
steamer and swimming ashore.
