Colonel 0 Summers, of Port land, was elected department com mander, and C. 11. Dauchy, of this city, was made a member of the council of administration. Commiiniler U. A. Hamilton & Washburn opened ft general merchandis store at Park Place with a moderate stock. County Judge Meldrura requests that upervisiors should certify to all bills presented by private individuals for supplies and materials furnished for road work and badges. Henry Moyatt, a United States prisoner appear ed to be a leader of the attempt to es cape. Moyatt resided in Oregon Citv last summer and fall, and was convict ed of swindling; about forty Albina workmen out of sums of $25 to $100 each by iillogcd timber speculations.
