ORDINANCE NO
An ordinance for the Improvement
of the Alley in Block 4 Of Oregon City,
Oregon, from the Westerly line of Main
Street ,to th Easterly line of Water
Street, and declaring an emergency.
Oregon City does ordain as follows
Section 1. The proposed improve
ment of the Alley in Block 4 of Oregon
City, Oregon, from the Westerly line
of Main Street to the Easterly line of
Water Street, shall he made according
to the plans and specifications on file
in the office of the City Recorder of
said Oregon City and approved by res
olution on the 7th day. of June 1922, by
the City Council of said Oregon City,
which said plans and specifications are
hereby referred to and made a part of
this ordinance.
The improvement shall be construct
ed as follows: The alley shall be
brought to sub-grade the full width
thereof, and and the sub-grade shall be
prepared according to the specifica
tions here-in-before referred to; on the
sub-grade so prepared shall be laid a
one course concrete pavement, 6
inches thick at th edge and 6 inches
thick at the center and shall have a
surface and sub-base as shown on the
plans, consisting of cement, sand and
gravel or crushed rock in the propor
tion of one, two and three, according
to th specifications on file with the
City Recorder.
When the alley is completed it shall
be at the established grade.
Section 2. The improvement shall
be classed "hard surface" and shall he
maintained by the city for the full per
iod often years from the date of the
acceptance by the city council.
Section. The city recorder is here
by authorized to advertise for and re
ceive proposals for said improvement
but the city council reserves th right
to reject any and all bids therefor. The
Mayor and City Recorder shall enter
into a contract or contracts with each
person, 'firm or corporation to whom
the contract or contracts are let by
the said city council for the improve
ment of parts thereof as specified in
this ordinance.
Section 4. The contract shall contain
a stipulation to the effect that each
person, firm or corporation to whom
the said contract or contracts are let
shall look for payment only to the sum
assessed upon the property liable to
pay for the improvement and collected
and paid into the treasury of the said
city of regon City for such purpose and
shall not hold Oregon City by any le
gal process or otherwise liable to, pay
me sam sum out oranyotnenuna. rne
said contract shall contain the further
stipulation to th effect that the con
tractor shall guarantee the said pave
ment for a period of one year and shall
repair any worn out places or other de
fects due to traffic on account of dis
integration or decay or in any manner
attributable to defective material or
workmanships that .may appear by
wearing out of the wearing surface
during the said period of one year from
the ordinary use of said streets or
that may he caused by th traffic from
the ordinary use of said street as a
roadway.
Section 5. WHEREAS the condition
of said alley is dangerous to the health
and safety of the public and the im
mediate improvement is necessary for
the , immediate preservation of the
health and safety of the public in the
opinion of the council of Orgeon City
an emergency exists therefore this or
dinance shall take effect and be In
force immediately upon , its approval
by the Mayor.

reading and passage at a regular
meeting of the city council to be held

An ordinance amending ordinance
No 881. of Oregon City, Oregon, en
titled "An ordinance prohibiting per
sons who are afflicted with certain
diseases from engaging or working in
certain occupations or employments
whereby such diseases may be spread,
and declaring an emergency," passed
oy the council and approved by th
I Mayor August 19, 1921, said amend-
ment being an addition of Section 3
thereto, providing a penalty, and de
claring an emergency.
Oregon City does ordain as follows
Section 1. That ordinance No. 881
of Oregon City, Oregon, entitled "An
ordinance prohibiting persons who are
afflicted with certain diseases from en
gaging or working In certain occupa
tions or employments whereby such
diseases may be spread and declar
ing an emergency," passed by the
council and approved by the. Mayor
August 19, 1921, be and the same here
by is amended by adding thereto sec
tion 3 as follows:
Section 3. Any person violating any
of the provisions of this ordinance
shall, upon conviction thereof before
the Mayor or Recorder of Oregon City,
be punished by a fine not exceeding
$25.00 for each offense, or by im
prisonment in the city jail for a period
not exceeding 10 days, or toy both such
fine or imprisonment.
Section 2. Inasmuch -as this ordin
ance is necessaryfor. the immediate
preservation of the public health,
peace and safety of the City of Oreogn
