COMMUNICATION- The movement, which was started in Portland, Oregon by the democratic woman's club popularizing B. F. Irv ine, editor of the Oregon Journal, as a candidate for governor of Oregon, is being given a decided impetus by their method of procedure in the cam paign. Petitions simply worded to the effect that the citizens of Oregon desire B. F. Irvine to allow his name to be placed on the primary ballot are being circulated among the voters of Oregon. The club feels they have a candi date with a peculiar distinction of ap pealing to all classes and feels no hesi tancy in presenting these petitions for the signature 61 all voters regardless of party affiliation. Mr. Irvine has a wide reputation for straight-forwardness, honesty of pur pose and championship for the inter est of the people. Many prominent women are assisting in securing sign ers on the petition in and about Port land. Petitions are going forward to all parts of the state to be placed in the hands of leading democratic wom en who will solicit the names of rep resentative, citizens. It is . expected they will have no difficulty in secur ing in a short time a sufficient num ber of names to properly influence Mr. Irvine to become a candidate. Yours truly, MRS. REDMOND MARSHALL.
