You, Ernest B. Baker, are hereby
required to appear and answer the
complaint filed against you herein on
or before Saturday, July 5th, 1919,
that being six weeks from the first
publication of this summons, and if
you fail to appear and answer, plain
tiff will apply to the court for the re
lief demanded in the complaint on
file herein, to which reference is here
by made and which is made a part
hereof, to-wit: For a decree quieting
plaintiff's title and barring defend
ant from any lien, claim, right, title
or interest in or to Lots One (1) to
Fourteen (14) inclusive, Lots Seven
(7) to Thirty-six (36) inclusive, Lots
thirty-seven (37) to Forty (40) in
clusive, Block Seventy-four (74),
"Minthorn" according to the map or
plat thereof on file in the Records of
Clackamas County, Oregon.
This summons will be served upon
you by publication thereof for not
less than six successive weeks in ihe
Oregon City Courier, a newspaper of
general circulation published in the
County of Clackamas, State of Ore
gon, the place where said suit is now
pending, and which' said paper is
hereby adjudged to be the paper
most likely to give defendant notice
of the pendency of this suit, and said
publication will be made by. order of
the Hon. J. U. Campbell, Judge of the
above entitled court, which said order
is dated the 21st day of May, 1919.

any claim whatever in and to said
land and premises adverse to the
plaintiff, or to her assigns, and for

ments in this suit.

The worst part of housework is the washing when done' in the old
way, on the rubhoard, rasping the dirt and soil out of each peace sepa
rately, by hand. If you have a hand machine it will help out, but even
then someone must push and pull the handle back and forth, and, al
though it is not hard, it hecolnes ardous before the family washing is
completed. Then, the wringer must be turned by hand, and this is by
far more tiresome than operating the washer.
Hand operated machines have been done away with in the factory,
in the office, and in the institution, and, in fact, everywhere. Men now
use machinery operated by power. Why should women not do likewise.

entitled Court, in the above entitled
cause, to me duly directed and dated
the 15th day of May, 1919, upon a
judgment rendered and entered in
said court on the 26th day of April,
1919, in favor of W. A. Carter, Plain,
tiff, and against W. S. Wymore, De-
fendant, for the sum of $100.00, with
interest thereon at the rate of 7 per
cent per annum from the 25th day of
February 1915, and the further sum
of $35.00 with interest thereon at the
rate of 6 per cent per annum from
the 26th day of April 1919, and the
further sum of $14.50 costs and dis
bursements, and the costs of and up
on this writ, commanding me out of
