when he states that the greatest

credulous, it seems to the writer it is

are so hard to convince as scientific

Unenlightened public opinion is not
of any value. The same kind of

The worst part of housework is the washing when done in the old
way, on the rubboard, rasping the dirt and soil out of each peace sepa
rately, by hand. If you have a hand machine it will help out, but even
then someone must push and pull the handle back and forth, and, al
though it is not hard, it becomes ardous before the family washing is
completed. Then, the wringer must be turned by hand, and this is by
far more tiresome than operating tho washer.
Hand operated machines have been done away with in the factory,
in the office, and in the institution, and, in fact, everywhere. 'Men now
use machinery operated by power. Why should women not do likewise.

good deal of suspicion on any state'

of spiritualism as professional theo

any new doctrine that threatens
their means of livelihood. Anybody

The conclusion of the whole matter

any progress, and it is not what a

"THE GOLDEN RULE" ,
(By Elma A. Monaghan)
Fred and I are school chums,
And we'd like to take a sneak,
But the truant officer is watching
So of course "we're very meek.
Oh gosh; We'd like to have a swim,
And lay around in tho sun;
I wonder if dad was ever a boy
He cares so little for fun.
If I should tell my mother
All the things that's in my head,
She'd raise her hands and say,
Why Billy you'll kill me dead.
I sure don't want to kill her,
And I can't the reason say;
Why children forty years ago
Were so different from today.
But dad is pretty big and strong,
And his authority likes to show;
He thinks he knows the whole cheese
About the way a boy should go.
So if we should plan a day off
He finds it out some way;
It does no good to look innocent
For at bed time he'll say
Billy, you've been playing truant!
And for the razor strap he'll reach
And first he'll dust my trousers
Then a sermon he will preach.
So Fred and I got wary,
How we slip away from school;
Although we're just pertend'ing
We follow the "golden rule."
