Having put Oregon at the head of Jersey producing states the country over, Oregon Jersey breeders celebrated the victory by a rousing jubilee, May 20-24. M. D. Nunn, president of the American Jersey Cattle club, and other noted Jersey specialists have 'come to help the loc al live wires put it across. The jubilee was opened with a trip over the Columbia river highway Tuesday, followed by a visit to near by Jersey farms. A banquet was held in the evening. The remainder or the time is being spent in visiting and inspecting some of the champion ship herds from those of Portland to that of the agrcultural college at Corvallis. . Vive la France, a four-year-old Jersey owned by Pickard Bros, of Marion county, has not only broken the four-year old world record but also the record for the breed. She has produced more butter fat than any other cow of any breed in the first three milk periods. The Oregon breeders believe that climatic conditions and careful selec tion of foundation stock has put the state in a class by itself as a Jersey center, and 'are preparing to make the most of -these favorable condi tions. With eight out of 12 class records held by Oregon, others are in early prospect.
