MAKE A GOOD DRINK
Loganberry Juice Easy to Prepare
and Keep for Later
Take clean, fresh ripe loganber
ries and heat to the boiling point with
just enough water to keep from burn
ing; remove from the fire at once
and strain through a coarse sack.
Take the juice, sweeten with three
pounds of the sugar to each gallon,
set back on the stove and heat again
to the boiling point, not letting it
boil. Pour into ready cleaned and
heated bottles and seal immediately.
Common soda or pop bottlee are good
for this purpose, to be corked and
sealed with parrafine; or glass fruit
jars sealed in the usual way.
The bottled juice is then set away
in a cool and dry place, where it will
keep for a long time. When wanted
for use it is simply poured from the
bottles diluted to taste, and then it
is a fit drink for a prince. Don't let
your surplus berries go to waste if
you likea good soft drink. Make
some of them into juice for table use.

Milwaukie Couple Suffer from Cm
flict in Old World, says Husband
Ludwig Falk, of Milwaukie, was
examined by a sanity commission last
week and declared sane. The exam
ination was made at the request of
his wife, who is a Scotchwoman. Mrs.
Falk, ever since the Lusitania epi
sode, has been an ardent advocate of
the allies; and her husband, being
German by birth, has been in favor
of the Kaiser's forces. Family dis
cussions of the merits of the two
sides of the question have grown so
violent that the home has been brok
en, according to Falk. Mrs. Falk
said she thought her husband was in
sane because he defended the Kaiser'a
mode of warfare, and the official in
quiry into his sanity followed.
Falk is 69 years old, and it is said
by their friends that the couple will
probably agree to disagree, and will
ask the court to grant them a di-J
vorce.
Notice
The road from Milwaukie to Sellwood
will be closed for a few days after
the fifth of July, if the weather is
favorable for finishing the work.
