April 28 has finally been chosen as the date of the championship debate between rarspliice and Ustacada lur the championship of the Clackamas County Debating League. John lias been a farmer in our burg for the past thirty years, but sold his farm last fall on account of his family having poor health. We all hope they will have better health at their new place. The band boys held their regular practice in the Fir Orove school house last Monday evening, when a large number gathered, and after enjoying the uinsio refreshments were served. CLACKAMAS Mr. Latham purchased the block opposite the Methodist parsonage from Mr. Smith lats winter, and took down the old house on it, with the in tention cf building a new one. He has recently been at work on a new barn. On Friday, March 24, while working on the roof the cleats gave way under his feet and he fell down onto the scaffolding, which also yield ing, he fell on down to the ground. The Ladies' Aid of the Methodist Episcopal church surprised Mrs Spiess with a number of birthday presents' on March 23 Among them was a fine new quilt made by the members of the Ladies' Aid, Miss Flannery, who has been sick for the last six weeks and has been under the care of Dr. Mount, was taken to a hospital in Portland in the Ked Cro s ambulance, Monday morn ing, March 27.
