Jacob Gerber, Sr. , who died at Sell
wood on December 6th, lived for many
years at Logan and was well known
and respocted by all. He was horn in
Switzerland, December 31st, 1830, and
came here from Missouri m 1874. He
was a member of the G. A. K. Three
sons, living in Logan and vicinity,
and his second wife, to whom he was
married in 1891, survive him.

E. P. McFarlane, a thrifty young

ing a new house. This adds much to
the beauty of his premises and gives
evidence that he is prospering.
Bert Wade, who has been spednlng
the summer in Eugeen, returned home
a few days ago and announces to his
friends that the hills are good enough
for him.
Miss Dora Wyland was visiting her

School Question Unsettled.
August Kaune, h prominent resident
of Harmony, spent a portion of Tues
day in this city conferring with Coun
ty School Superintendent Gary on
the Milwaukee Harmony - Wichita
school question. It is the op fiion of
Mr. Kanue that the controversy is far
from being settled, as the residents of
Harmony object to losing their school
and being divided between the Mil
waukee and Clackamas districts.

Raises Monster Parsnip.
George Hall, an enterprising Mea
dowbrook farmer spent Tuesday in
Oregon City, and while here, he left
on exhibition in the Courier office, a
monster parsnip that he raised on
his farm, which Is one of the most
productive In hia part of the country.
The vegetable Is thirty-four Inches in
length, and its circumference is a
little over fourteen Inches. Mr. Hall
won a number of prizes at the Grange
fair at Molalla this fall.
