Eastban Again Defeated.
The football game playtd Tnosday
afternoon between the MoLotiglilin
Institute and the Eastham school re
sulted in a victory for the former
team, the score being 6 to 0. During
the first five minutes of play, the
Oatholio lads, by using the forward
pass to good advantage, started Shea
han on a long run, which resulted in
the only touchdown of the contest.
Michels kicked the goal easily. Dur
ing the remainder of the first half,
and all through the last half, the I wo
teams pounded each other all over the
gridiron, and with the exception of
onoe, when the Eastham aggregation
were dangerously near their oppo
nents' goal, the playing was conlined
to the ceDtor of the field. Canemah
Park was pretty well filled with sup
porters of both schools and rivalry1
was at a high pitch all through the
game. The teams lined up as follows :

the burning of pool tables at i'ierson,

pool room gambling joint, much

good citizens of the town. The owner
was converted in the meotings and
proved his conversion by a bonfire of
his tablos and gambling outfit. Evan

meetings at the First Baptist churoh
in Oregon City, did not allow this

A $ 1 2,000 Check
D
O YOU THINK the postman will
leave at your door, next New Year's
Morning, a $12,000 check? That
very thing would happen every year
of your life had you invested $1,000 in Mun
sey's Magazine when that enterprise was
young. But of the thousands who listened to
the Mimsey Idea, few had faith in it. These
few are the ones who every year receive
twelve times their original investment in div
idends. Perhaps you would have passed up
the Munsey Idea. Perhaps you will pass up
he Ba iwille Idea. You will also, some day,
opk back to tUe neglected opportunity of in
vesting $100 where it would have yielded you
n comfortable living for the remainder of your
inc. You may also be one of the few who
will grasp the idea that will yield such reward as befell
the Munsey faithful. Back of the Bonville Idea is a
half-niilliou dollar guarantee, subscribed by substantial
business men. The great work that guarantees great
success is accomplished. The few dollars that are
required to perfect the undertaking will be furnished,
by those who dare to be leaders not by those who
pursue a lifelong journey in beaten paths. You may
be such an one. If so you are invited to investigate,
possibly you may go away convinced that the Boiwille
Idea, in the magazine world, is greater than the Mun
sey Idea. Perhaps you may return to back your con
viction with an investment of $100, $200, or even $1000

Thomas Estrada Palma, probably
the best known of the Cuban lovers

was largely through his efforts during
the last revolution that the Americans
took up the cause of Cuba during
1898. He was the first president of
