Estacada.
Estacada will Btlll be a dry town,
notwithstanding the decision ' of the
supreme court. Mayor W. A. Heyl
; man, as spokesman for the present
city administration, says: "Irrespect
ive of any powers granted to the coun
cil by the city charter to license sa
loons, no licenses will be granted dur
ing the term of this administration.
The people voted that this should be
a dry town, and we will abide by their
mandate." This stand is approved
by a large majority of the people.
It Is thought by many who have
studied the charter that it does not
exempt the city from the operation
of the local option law. as It is not
a parallel of the Medford or Condon
charters.
Harry Sherman, a boy of corpulent
build, was tripped on the basement
stairs of the Estacada school last
Thursday and thrown down with such
force that three ribs were broken. His
home is at Cadazero.
Born To the wife of Mr. James of

orated with autumn leaves and ferns.
The Hallowe'en pranks of the Es
tacada youngsters consisted In scrawl
ing various misrepresentations on the
windows of the business part of the
town with soap. Many an unpleasant
truth stared some of the people in the
face.
Mrs. F. M. Gill Is spending the week
with her father and mother, Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Dale.
Miss Eva Pruner, Miss Mae Stev
ens, Miss Stella Womer, Miss Mary
