The stress and strain of the strenu
ous . life in both city and country
makes stomuch troubles. Five peo
ple suit'er today where one did ten
years a grj-wiiii hick neaaacne, aizi
ness, flatulence, distress after eating,
specks before the eyes, bloating, ner
vousness, sleeplessness and many other
symptoms of indigestion.
All who are suffering with stomnoh
troubles, and that means at least two
out of three in Oregon City and other
towns, shonld use Mi-o-na stomach
tablets. Nothing else is as safe yet
effective; nothing else can be so
thoroughly relied upon to relieve all
troubles from indigestion as Mi-o-na.
So reliable is Mi-o-na that Jones
Drug Co. with every 50 cent box they
sell, give a guarantee to refund the
money unluss the remedy cores.
Hidden Motives.
During the eight mouths from the
time of its doparture from San Fran
cisco until its return to tho home sta
tion on the Atlantic coast the fleet
will make visits of ceremony to New
Zealand, Austrailia, Japan, China.
In strength it remains tne same as
when under Admiral Evans' com
mand, although the Maine and the
Aaluama of the original floet have
been detruclied and are now at Guam
on their way home. Their plaoes
have been taken by the Wisconsin and
the Nebraska, leaving the Oregon,
now out of commission, as the only
battleship on the Paoifio coast.
The better policy would have been
to keep at least a division of Admiral
Sperry's Meet, since it was already
here, on the Pacific coast. Besides,
the ships could have been easily
spared from the Atlantic floet, as
three brand new battle ships have
been added to the force on the Atlan
tic eoasfr Bince Admiral Evans sailed
from Hampton Roads last December,
lint the fleet for tho last year has been
handled by Mr. Roosevelt with an eye
to joiltiral effect. Having given the
Paoifio const a taste of the big navv,
hy withdrawing the fleet again lie
may hope to stimulate the clamor for
a still bigger navy such as his heart
longs for.
Tho mission of Admiral Sperry's
fleet in the Oirient is one purely of
courtesy and friendship. ,It should
help to strengthen the ties of interna
tional good feeling. It is hoped that
our big and little jingoeB in their ex
oiteiiiont will not mar the favorable
impression abroad hy untimely bluster
about hidden motives behind this ex
pedition of poace.

Often The Kidneys Are
Weakened by Over-Work.
Unhealthy Kidneys Make Impure Blood.
It used to be considered that only
urinary and bladder troubles were to be
traced to the kidneys,
but now modern
science proves that
nearly all diseases
have their beginning
in the disorder ol
these most important
organs.
The kidneys filter
and purify the blood
that is their work.
Therefore, when your kidneysare weak
or out of order, vou can understand how
quickly your entire body is affected and
how every organ seems to fail to do its
dutv.
If you are sick or " feel badly,1' begin
taking the great kidney remedy, Dr.
Kilmer's Swamp-Root, because as soon
as vour kidneys are well they will help
all the other organs to health. A-trial
will convince anyone.
If you are sick you can make no mis
take bv first doctoring your kidneys.
The mild and the extraordinary effect of
Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-Root, the great
kidnev remedy, is soon realized. It
stands the highest for its wonderful cures
of the most distressing cases, and is sold
on its merits by all
druggists in fifty-cent
Electricity in the Cooking School.
The young ladies of the Belton,
Texas, high school in pursuit of cul
inary knowledge' in the domegtio
science coarse do all their experimen
tal cooking in electrically heated
utensils. Even as good cooking
points the most direot way to a man's
heart so electricity is the quickest and
best heat medium for preparing food
stuffs. The kitchen of the Belton
school is one of the best and most up-to-date
in the country. It is equipped
with a coaiplote line of .General Elec
ttioity heating utensils, including fry
ing pans, vegetable cookers, chafing
dishes, percolators, cereal cookers and
electrio ovens.
In equipping this domestic science
kitchen the health and comfort of the
students, as well as perfect conven
ience and cleanliness, were taken infro
consideration. It was desirable that
the young ladies should work about
the kitulien in good dresses and that
here should not be any disagreeable
and uunenltliy gasses aud dust. Iu
all these good qualities electricity
stands alone, so the kitchen was wired
for the electrio devices aud now there
are no dirty coal fires, no dangerous
and unhealthy gas pipes or treacherous
gasoline or alcohol stoves.
