Rose Bushes are Stripped of Foliage
and Blossoms.
Complaints have boen made In this
city by many of the residents of flow
er vandals, who visit the gardens at
night, and help themselvM ,to (the
choicest of roses. During the past
few nights bushes have been broken
and stripped of the roses, which were
to have been exhlblted-at the coming
roso show on Friday and Saturday.
If the parties who are making a prac
tice of destroying rose buHhes for
the flowers could be severely dealt
with and It would teach others a les
son, and the people who are making
an effort to help beautify our city with
nature's fairest blossofs would cer
tainly feel grateful to our protectors.
Badly Sprained Ankle Cured.
Three years ago our daughter
sprained her ankle and had been suf
fering terribly for two days and
nights had not slept a minute. Mr,
Stalllngs, of Butler, Tenn., told us of
Chamberlain's Pain Balm. We went
to the s'.ore that night and got a bot-
tie of It and bathed her anklo two or
three times and she went to sleep and
had a good night's rest. The next
morning she was much better, and In
a short time could walk around and
had no more trouble with her ankle.

"A clever idea was carried out at a'
recent 'shower' for a bride to be," says
July Woman's Home Companion. "In
the Invitation each guest was request
ed to send in, prior to the party, a
winh for the bride. The hostess made
a beautiful large white paper rose,
and before putting it together she
wrote on each petal a wish and the
name of the wisher. As is usual In
most cases, some of the guests forgot
to send in a wish, but brought one
with them, and others wrote them 'af
ter they arrived. For this purpose a
large paper rosebud had been made,
Into which the wishes were slipped,
and the bud twisted up again. The
guest of honor was charmed with the
rose and rosebud, and said that she
would always keep it as a pleasant re
minder of her frlendB, whom she was
soon to leave for a new home in a dis
tant city."
