Considerable airing has been given
the County High School question with
in the two weeks just past, due large
ly to the position the two candidates
have taken In the matter. It was
quite evident at the outset that the
people of Clackamas County outside
of Oregon City, woulf not stand to be
entirely shut out of high school priv
ileges, and by a most prominent dis
senting voice, as against a sipgle high
school, have brought out the favorite
position occupied by Mr. Joseph W.
Gray In his support of High Schools
when population demanded them.
JOSEPH W. GRAY, Independent Can
didate for County Superintendent of
Schools.
Mr. Gray has been working diligent
ly to the end that the county shall be
given Just and equal privileges and
has the backing of a greater part or
the taxpayers of the county, who have
children and who consider the advisa
bility of voting to support a single
high school in a remote part of the
county and then the Inconvenience and
expense which would follow the at
tendance of such a school by child
ren so far removed. What they are
considering is that high schools must
come to the various settlements or
towns where the population warrants,
where their children can have within
their reach the privileges granted in
the high school.
Let not the voters, who have the
educational Interests of the county at
heart, be misled by any turn table
proposition which might seem to par
tially fill the desired situation, but
cast their vote In such a manner that
the case may be clearly decided
against the County High School proposition.
The Courier is the only county pa
per that gives you the news of the
county.

tage Grove, have sold their business

Oswego, have purchased a sawmill at
Dundee, about 12 miles from New
berg. Mr. Hankins will move his fam
ily to that place, and William Hankins,
who is at present in Cottage Grove,
will 'move his family to Dundee In a
very short time. Mr. Hankins was a

Mrs.
Claud Henrlcl Is Injured In
Runaway.
Mrs. Claud Henrici, while riding In
a buggy on Saturday evening, met
with a painful accident, and her es
cape from death was miraculous.
While riding along Main Street near
the Baptist church, the horse hitched
to the buggy became frightened and
unmanageable and started to run
away, aud threw Mrs. Henrlcl heavily
to the ground, but was caught be
tween the spokes of the wheel of the
buggy. She was dragged along the
ground until the horse struck the iron
fence near the McLoughlin Institute,
and falling against it. This saved
Mrs. Henrici from being dragged to
death. Dr. Mount was summoned and
Mrs. Henrici was taken to her home
where her injuries were dressed, and
although badly bruised no bones were
broken.
J. H. Lelper, of Portland Oregon,
Writes Letter Which May be of
Great Interest to Skin Suf
ferers In This City.
100 Grand Ave., North Portland, Or.
For about fifteen years I had been
afflicted with Eczema and . had tried
many remedies, to very little purpose,
and no cure. Somewhat In desperation
I tried D. D. D. I was soon convinced
before the bottle was half empty that
I had at least found medicine that was
not a deception. Now I have a little
left of the third bottle and am entire
ly cured of the Eczema, and fqr seven
months have had no symptoms of Its
return.
J. H. LEIPER,
Field Secretary Northwest
Sabbath Association.
What D. D. D. did in this case it
ought to do for you. This wonderful
remedy is now recognized by the fore
most physclans and scientists as the
quickest and surest cure for Eczema
and skin disease of any nature. This
remedy is as safe and pleasant to use
as pure water, and is applied directly
to the afflicted parts, leaving no bad
odor or sticky, salvy substance. The
first application gives instant relief,
and as far as we have been able to
investigate quickly effects the most
astonishing and permanent cures
wherever rightly used. If you are a
sufferer from any kind of itch or skin
disease of any nature do not fall to
try this remarkable remedy. Pamph
lets on skin diseases and their cure,
diet, exercise, bathing, tc, free at our
store. Howell & Jones.
The Most Common Cause of Suffering.
Rheumatism causes more pain and
suffering than any other disease, for
the reason that it is the most com
mon of all ills, and It is certainly
gratifying to sufferers to know that
Chamberlain's Pain Balm will afford
relief, and make rest and sleep pos
sible. In many cases the relief from
pain which is at first temporary, has
become permanent, while in old peo
ple subject to chronic rheumatism,
often brought on by dampness or
changes in the weather, a permanent
cure cannot be expected, the relief
from pain which this liniment affords
is alone worth many times its coBt.
