FIRST MONTHLY MARKET DAY.
"What Is Market Day?" Is the ques
tion one may hear on every hand at
the present time and we might say it
is just this: Max Zimmerman, the
great Market Day promoter and horse
auctioneer Is In town and has arrang
ed with the merchants to hold a Mar
ket Day. Zimmerman 1b the origina
tor of the Market day celebrations and
by the manner he goes about the get
ting np one may conclude that It will
surely be a howling success. There
Is nothing under the sun when It
comes to Market day, there Is not a
child In all Europe who does not know
what "Mark Tag" is, and the child
looks forward to the regular monthly
Market Day, as any American child
does the first circus of the season. No
one stays at home, grandfathers,
grandmothers, aunts, cousins, sweet
hearts, and all kids go to town. It's
a grand gathering a meeting place
for miles around and everybody gets
busy when in town, as all the mer
chants invariably have big bargains
to offer In that day. The men buy.
sell and trade, while the women do
the shopping. It gives the farmer a
chance to dispose of whatever he may
have to sell as there are purchasers
In town from far and near.
The farmer soon becomes as busy
as the busiest merchant, and It In
sures grent bargains for the shoppers
trom city and country.
Iroin reports from various cities
where Mr. Zimmerman has been we
find that Market Day had circus day
skinned forty ways as to the number
of people attracted.
Market Day is certainly a booster
for the town, the merchants and the
farmer as well, and the idea to hold
one each month should be followed out
closely. Let no one stay at home help
ooost ine nrst one.

GOOD GROCERIES
A WHOLESOME SUBJECT
For discussion at this time, as the Straw
berry season is now opening up and the
toothsome Shortcake must have our atten
tion. But, what flour shall we use in the
mixture. To have good Shortcakes one
must use the best flour. There are some
fair brands and there are better ones; such as
Dement's Best, Snow Drift, Century, Etc. The housewife who has tried
a flour and finds it satisfactory lets well enough alone.

WILLIE SAYS:
"It just keeps me sweeping all the time. With all
the goods that are coming in and going out it's a wonder
the floor lasts very long; the boss will certainly have to
put down a new one soon. But he don't seem to care,
for he's so busy from morning till night and then
some and then he laughs at me and it makes me laugh
every time I think of any man taking life too seriously
when he can get as good things to eat right here in our
store as are produced these days. Come in aud have'
a talk with me or the boss."
