If interested oall, write or phone, JOHN W. LODER. Attorney at Law. Stevens Building: - - Oregon City, Or. William Shindler was re-elected Mayor of Milwaukie Monday at the annual municipal election over Isaac S. Mullan, of the Citizens' ticket, by a vote of 73 to 42. -He. will serve two years. For candidates for othef offices the vote was divided as follows: Council man, Grant Barker, Cit., 6fi; W. T. Houser, Cit., 57; O, S. Matthews, lnd., G5 (re-elected). Recorder. Fred Lehman, 102. Treasurer, E. T. Elmer, 102. Marshal, Edward Paetsch. .There was no opposition to the last three candidates. A total of 119 votes was cast, a gain of about 15 per cent over the vote cast a year ago. The re-election of Mr. Shindler was a surprise to the opposition, who had it figured out on paper that he would lack ten votes. It was thought by his friends that his violent speech at the convention would make votes against him, but it evidently had no effect one way or the other. It is said that the church people helped nominate Mr Mullan, at the convention, and then pulled away from him when they found that he would not declare war on, the Milwaukie clubhouse and the saloon. Mr. Shindler has been a force at Milwaukie for a number of years. When the fight against the powder houses was started- he was in the thickest of it. When the fight for in corporation was started as the only means to get rid of the powder houses he was in the foreground of that movement. The Council for the next year will be composed of Philip Streib and George Hively, holdovers, with Grant Barker and O. S. Matthews, elected Monday. All are property owners. Maple Lane Grange.
