OREGON CITY COURIER FRIDAY, DECEMBER 8, 1905. 4 CLACKAMAS SUNDAY SCHOOLS ORGANIZE Association Is Formed to Assist Work Throughout County Permanent organization of a Clack amas County Sunday school Associa tion was effected Tuesday In the First Congregational Church. The number ' of delegates present to the convention was not large but considerable enthu siasm was manifested, and the inten tion of the Association is to hold dis trict institutes and county conventions and to do all things possible to assist the work of the Sunday Schools of the county. The following permanent of ficers were chosen: George Randall, president; Mrs. George C. Brownell, vice-president; Mrs. C. A. Nash, secre tary. The Convention met at 2 o'clock. Temporary organization was effected by the election of Rev. E. S. Bollinger as chairman. Rev. W. C. Merritt, field worker of the American Sunday School Association, spoke on "Christ, the Ideal Teacher," and was followed by Mr. Condor, who talked on State Normal work forSunday School teachers, and he outlined the course, stating that who completed the course. Monday evening Mr. Conder talked on the high calling of the Sunday diplomas would be granted to all those School teacher, and Rev. W. C. Mer ritt spoke on "the Inspiration of Sun day School Work." SWINDLED OUT OF $40. G. A. Ferguson Is Victimized By Clever Operator G. A. Ferguson Is out $40 through the manipulation of a clever swindler, who gave bis name as Frank A. Han scom, and who was accompanied by a woman who passed as his wife. Fer guson recently came here from Iowa and was employed in the paper mills. He was induced by Hanscom to re sign his position in the mill to accept a lucrative place that the swindler promised him. He lost nearly all the money he had In the world. Deputy District Attorney made an investiga tion, and siezed two valises and a trunk, the property of the confidence man, who disappeared. Torture of a Preacher, The story ot the tortu-e of Rev. O. D. Following Is the report of school district No. 33, Highland, for the month ending November 17, 1905: Number of pupils enrolled, 38; Number of days taught, 20; average daily attendance, 34. Those who were present every day are: Josephine Adams, Marian and Laurence Mudgett, Dora and Ruby Fairfowl, Annie Mayfleld, Arthur and Sadie Fellows, Harold Vohs, Ralph Madison, Lloyd Schramm. Visitors present during the month were: Wm. Fairfowl, Dave Miller, John Schramm, directors; Mrs. Joe Fellows, Hiram Fellows. Amanda Fellows, and Mrs. Fairfowl. Notice is hereby given to the legal voters of School District No. 62, of Clackamas County, State of Oregon, that a special school meeting of said district will be held at the county court room on the 18th day of Decem ber, 1905, at 7 o'clock, for the follow ing object: For the purpose of levying a special tax for school purposes. Babbling that he wanted to go back home, Aaron Cisco, of Oswego, was taken to the insane asylum Thursday by an attendant of that institution. Cisco is 86 years of age, and has lived with the Walling family for 40 years. He was committed on complaint of his nephew, Albert Walling, and Judge Ryan appointed Samuel Strong, also a nephew of Cisco, a guardian of his estate. The unfortunate man is a victim of senility and Is not violent He was at one time a well-to-do man and lost most of his fortune by the failure of the Portland Saving Bank.
