Mr. Boyles Says His Wife Declined to Live in Oregon City. H. D. Bovles has instituted suit in the Circuit Court against Violet Boyles for a decree of divorce. They were married May 14, 1898, in Van couver, Wash., and Mr. Boyles states that his wife maintains a discordant and repugnant attitude towards him, and has continuously and persistently whined about m a fault-finding man ner and censured him wantonly and inhumanly on the day of the death of the brother" of the plaintiff, without cause or provocation. The permanent road, however, will be the Koellermeier road, and as a result of the failure to agree on a price for property needed in the construction of the road, the county will commence condemnation proceedings against Hans Jr. Hsberg and Jrlora Athey. Stock to the amount of $2,250 have been taken in the new telephone com pany that is being formed in this city by Attorney J. CJ. Campbell, un der indorsement of the Oregon City board of trade, and Mr. Campbell has so much faith in the enterprise that he has taken 50 shares himself, Hunt ley Bros, have 50 shares, Mr. Bonney, who has a franchise in the city and on the county road to Logan, has taken 50 shares, and W. D. DeVarney, proprietor of an independent company at Corvallis, has subscribed for 50 shares. The concern "is to be capi talized at $10,000, and it will be nec essary to have $6,000 cash on hand before beginning business. It is pro posed to connect up with all" country lines, charging each country sub scriber $1.00 per year for service in and out of Oregon City. A charge of $1.50 per month for business phones and $1.00 per month for resi dence phones will be made in this city, and within six months the com pany expects to have a long distance service in operation with Portland. Frank R. Andrcws.'who is trying to secure a franchise into Oregon City for his line, and who has so far met with stormy obstacles, is working on his project. Promises had been made that an amended franchise for Mr. Andrews would be presented at last Saturday's meeting of the council, but it was not furthcoming,-and Mr. An drews and his attorney, Grant B. Dimiek, will go before the council and demand fair play and a square deal. They expect the same. treat ment from the council that has been given similar enterprises, and will re sist any effort to compel them to come into the city over another line, and pay tolls therefor. SWEDISH COLONY COMING. Purchase 1960 Acres in the Vicinity of Colton. Colonization of 1060 acres of land in the vicinity of Colton and James has been undertaken by a Swedish clergyman of Portland, who has pur chased the property through the real estate firm of C. N. Plowdert & Co. The land has been in the possession of Harrison Jones, and brought $8 per acre. Most of the land is tillable when cleared, but very little has been cleared. There is an irrigating ditch coming from Canyon Creek and other mountain streams running through the property, and the section is very healthful, and a part of the property has been improved for many years. Extensive schemes are 'planned for the settlement of this territory by the Swedes, who make thrifty citizens. NEW ELECTION PRECINCTS. The neoole of Garfield presented a petition to the county court to take that precinct and a part of Eagle Creek into Estacada precinct and this was done. Har mony precinct has been created out of a part of Clackamas and Milwaukie precincts, and Oak Grove precinct was made a portion of Milwaukie pre cinct.
