A OREGON CITY COURIER, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6, 1905 GERMS COME FROM MILK HONORABLE MENTION FOR MINERALS Infection Results in U Cases o: Typhoid. INVESTIGATION STARTED Pickers in Charles Beck's Hop- yard at Aurora Are Stricken With Fever. Ten severe oasea of typhoid fover in Clackamas county has resulted in an investigation by Dr. Hogli S. Mount wlio lias the patients nnder h is care, and the infection is traoed direct to Charles Ueok's hopyard at Aurora. Three members of Beck's family were down with the fever while hop pick ing was progressing, and the milk and water that was aged in the yard came from Beck's house. Michael Kroll's two ohildren are ill at his home on the Molalla road, and at Redland Fred Wiloox, two children of Fred Snyder, Mrs. August Hubor and two children are stricken with the fever. Two sons of Jacob Harry are ill and have been taken to St. Vincent s Hospital in Portland. All of the cases developed last week. shortly after the return of the viotims Irom the hopyard. While Dr. Mount is not positive that infected milk caused the illness of the typhoid fever patients, he says that indications point to that source. None of the patients are in immediate danger, but are im proving under the care of the physi cians. Mrs. Fred Snyder and her baby are the two latest victims of typhoid fever at Kedland and no .other new "oases have been reported. Dr. JMount started for the soene whore the fever stricken families reside Tuesday and status that he will try to have both Mrs Snyder and her child sent to a hospital in Portland, where they may have the advantage of skillful and professional oare constantly. The two new oases bring the total to 13, and Dr. Mount is going to re port the mutter to the state board of health, and he will demand an iuvestii gatiou of Charles Book's home at Au rora, where the disposal of infected milk to employes of Beck's hopyard is believed to have been the cause of the wholesale illness.
