LOCAL- NOTES
GOOD NEWS.
Many Oregon City Readers Have Heard
II and Profited Thereby.
"Good news travels fast," and the
thunsauds of bad back sufferers in
Oregon City are glad to learn that
prrmpt reliel is within tlioir reach.
Many a lame, weak, and aching back
is bad no more, thanks to Doan's Kid
ney Pills. People are tolling the good
news of their experience with the Old
Quaker Remedy. Here is an example
worth reading :
Jacob E. McCoy, of Salem, Oregon,
bridge builder and contractor, residing
on Capital street, second house beyond
Mill creek, says: "I have always en
joyed good health up to five or six
years ago. Along about that time my
kidneys commenced to bother me.
There was not so much backache, but
the principal symptoms were in con
nection with the kidney secretions. A
strain or over-exertion very often
caused homorrhagos of the kidneys. I
ffciunot say that it was so painful but
it was very annoying. I used various
remedies and while some gave relief
others were worthless. In some way
Doan's Kidney Pills were brought to
my notice and when np town I pro
cured a box, taking them as directed.
A few doses gave me very convincing
proof that they were going to the right
spot, and though I can't Bay they have
cured me, as I may never be cured, I
can state that they gave me wonder
ful relief. I have a high opinion of
Doan's Kidney Pills and cheerfully
reoommend them. "
Plenty more proof like this from
Oregon Oity people. Call at Dr. 0.

Land Office Rooms in Portland Not
What They Should Be.
Officials of the United States Land
Office, which was last Friday moved
to Portland from Oregon City, where
it had been ever since its establish
ment, are not pleased over the.oliange,
and their dissatisfaction Is due princi
pally to the iuadequateuess of the
rooms provided for the office in the
Columbia building on the comer of
Washington and West Purk streets.
Only four rooms have been allotted
in all, and oue of these is occupied by
Special Agent Edward Dixou. The
other th'ee will be utilized to conduct
the business ot the office, while in
Oregon City five rooms were provided,
all of them larger and with more
light. Up against the east side of the
building is a fire wall that shuts out
nearly ull of the light. Contests will
be heard in Register Dresser's private
office, with tiie result that his privacy
will be nu. For these rooms aouoie
the amount of rent that was exacted in
Oregon City is paid by the govern
ment, and the laud department initi
atedthe niOve on the grounds of economy.'
Judge T. F. Cowing has secured two
rooms directly across the corridor
from tho land office, and his offices are
light, airy and desirable.
