exercises of the Oregon Agricultural
College, and will be absent a week.
Profossor Bonzer, of Spokane. Wash.,
is visiting his sister, Mrs. Thomas

with the Spokane educational exhibit
at tho Lewis and Clark Exposition.
Rev. H. B. Robins, of Roohester,
N. who has been called to tiie
pastorate of the First Baptist churcn,
is expected to arrive here June 17,
and will preach his initial sermon a
week from next Sunday.
S. Sweugel, of Aurora, has sold his
farm to Ole E. Bollaud, of Iowa.
The purchaser is a recent arrival to
Oregon and expects to make his home
here. The sale of tho place was ne
gotiated by H. E. Cross.
William Koerner left Monday for
Rye Valley, Malheur county, and will
do development work in the mines in
which his father is interested, return
ing in Ausiust, when he will go to
Stanford University to resume his
studies.
Field Superintendent J. Nelson
Wisner, of the United States Fish
Commission, with Mrs. Wisner and son
arrived Monday morning from Wash-"
ington, D. O. Mr. Wisner will prob
ably be station :-d permanently on the
Pacitio Coast.
The suit of William McDonald vs.
Clackamas county for $5000 damages
alleged to have been sustained on' the
New Era hill road, has been set for
trial June 16. McDonald had a runa
way and claimed that the damages
were due to the bad condition of the
road.
Frauk H. Welsh came in Saturday
night from the mines of the Financial
Mining Co. on the upper Clackamas
river, bringiiig with him some excep
tionally fine speciments of ore, con
taining a heavy proportion of copper.

. JQ. A. Schuebel, of Shnbel, is. in tho
c.ty and reports that a resident of that
locality is poisoning dogs by the
wholesale. The man is known and the
authorities will take him in hand.
He lost several sheep that were killed
by dogs, and unable to tell whoso
dogs they were, he is making sure of
his vengeance by ageneral slaughter.

in the justice court against I. Tolpolar
to recover a balance of $243.80, alleged
to be dus on a shipment of stoves and

Saturday oommitted . to the insane
asylum. Pixley was 'examined for in
sanity several months ago aud was
discharged, but his neighbors con
tinued their complaints against him.
He is an old man and exceedingly

Two suits growing out of damages
caused by setting fire to slashings
have been settled and dismissed in the
circuit court. Lucy A. Cubbage and
Susie A. M. Cooper sued Michael
Keisecker. The former case was tried
and the plaintiff seemed a verdict,
and the Cooper case was settled out
of conrt.

O. Miller, an employe of the Wil
lamette Pulp & Paper Company, was
injured in the mill Thursday after
noon. While at his work, a heavy
pieoe of wood fell on his head, frac
turing his skull, and cutting a gash
six inches long. Dr. H. S. Mount was
called and dressed the wound. Mil
ler's family reside in Salem. His in
juries are not serious.

Mary Stickuey was Saturday taken
to the S'ate insane asylum by a wn
mau attendant of the institution, who
came down from Salem for that pur
pose. This is the first committment
to be made since the new law, provid
ing that patients shall he taken to the
asylum by trained attendants, went
into effect. Mary Sticknoy is from
Milwaukie and is 28 years of age.
Miss Young has opened a dressmak
ing parlor 'on the corner ot Se'veutli
and Jackson streets, and is prepared
to do all kinds Df high class dressmak

Robert L. Edmouston has filed a
suit for divorce from Ellen Edrr.ons
ton, to whom ho was married in Port
land, December 15, 1802. Ho alleges
that she deserted him July 1, 1902,
and accuses her of cruel and inhnman
treatment. He also says that she re
fused to live with him. There are uo
children. Attorneys Long and Swek,
of Portland, represent the plaintiff.

Will of the late William J. Tnck

The will was executed jointly with
the wife of the 'deceased, Parmcha
Tuckuess, who is yet living. One
fourth of ho property is left to the
children of Liza Evaline McConuell,
a daughter of the deceased, and three
fourths to Harrietto E. Bailey, Mary
Jane Bonuey and Sophrona Adalino
Jones. W. F. Young, of Sherwood, is
named as executor.

Annual Turn of Mind.
Frank Henrici disappeared from his
home in this city last Thursday, and
since that time he has not been heard
from. The man is of unbalanced
mind, and every year becomes subject
to attacks of insanity. The last one
resulted in a visit to the liomeB of
Messrs. Miller and Moody. Henrici
roused the ocoupants of tho house in
the dead of night aud endeavored to
compel them to listen to a tale of his
love affairs, stating that his plans for
matrimony had been broken up and
frustrated. He was promptly ejected
from both houses. Search has been
made for him in Portland, but with
out success. Henrici is possessed of
considerable money and property and
work is not a necessity for him.

pany. Socialist Meeting.
Socialists met in Knapp's hall San
day with a rather light attendance on
account of the inclement weather.
Dinner was served with ice cream,
and the afternoon devoted to music,
addresses, a debate and readings. Ap
plications were received for member
ship from four persons, who were ac
cepted. A. J. Lewis gave an essay,
which was roundly applauded. The
debate on the question, "Resolved,
That Socialism offers inducements to
the professional and mercantile
classes," was decided in favor of the
AfHrmuHvfl. Addresses were delivered
bv Messrs. Frye and Braker. Music I
was furnished by Messrs. Imel and
Wnnrma on niano and violin. The
Socialists will meet again Sunday, ;
July 2.
