Rev. A. J. Ware, of this city, pre siding elder of the United Brethren church, has gone 'to Gains, Mich., as a delegate from the Oregon annual conference to the general conference. He will return abont June 1. Sid Richardson, one of the pioneer residents of Oregon City, returned on Monday from Coos county. They were married in 1896, and the plaintiff al leges that her husband deserted her in June, 1903. She asks to be allowed to resume her maiden name of Mor rison. Frank Ellis was committed to the insane asylum Friday by County Judge Ryan and was taken to Salem Friday night. Ellis was arrested for drnukeness a few days ago and had been worked on the streets. I Funeral of the late Rebekah Lund was held Tuesday afternoon from the Congregational churc h in Oswegb, and the interment was in Oswego cem- , etery. Deceased was 18 years of age, ' and resided with her widowed mother and sister at Owsego. Dropsy was the cause of her death which occurred . at Oswego Monday morning. I George McOord's new launch was sent to Portland Wednesday morning. I The boat is about 40 feet long, and I was constructed entirely by Mr. Mc- Cord at his boat yard at Mount Pleas ant for Portland people. The craft is ready to receive its machinery, and will be propelled by gasoline. I Work on the power plant of the Ore gon Water Power Company at Caza dero is going steadily forward. Price, in this city, and the establishment will be known here after as Price Bros. Mr. .Price has been in the clothing business formany. years and is a welcome adjunct to the business circles of Oregon City. They propose to conduct their storey on a much larger scale than heretofore op erated. Three tennis clubs have been formed in Oregon City, and it is likoly that the game will become a popular amuse ment this summer. On the Barclay property a court is being mapped out, and. another is in full cry on the Can field property iu the rear of W. A. Huntley's residence. A , third oourt will be made on Center street, and the devotees of the game talk of a tournament. ClerK I. D. Taylor, of Oregon City Camp, No. 5666, Modern Woodmen of America, has paid to Mrs. Frank A. Sleight, $2000, the amount of insur ance that her late husband, County Clerk Sleight, carried in the order. The certificate of Mr. Sleight is num bered 2114, and was written in 1884. The numbers on the certificates now being written run more than a mil lion, showing a remarkable growth. Mr. Sleight's death was the first that the local camp has had. Trouble on the river has resulted in the issuance of a warrant for the ar reBt of Harry French, upon the com plaint of Dan Complito. ' The men were drift'ng with their nets for sal mon, and Complito "oorked" French. They went ashore and Frennh went after Complito and beat him. The Italian's hand was injured. French is said to be in Portland.
