Mrs. Mary M. Charmau has re turned from a two weeks' visit with friends in Portland, much improved in health. Blaine Phillips, an attache of the general press bureau of the Lewis and Clark Exposition, visited Oregon City friends Tuesday. Koy Twombly, stenographer for District Attorney Harrison Allen, of Astoria, has been visiting his brother-in-law, Fred Leavens, in this city. Rev. P. K. Hammond returned Sat urday from a five days' outing near Ridgefield, where he has been with a party of clergymen from Portland. George Lee Harding returned Sun day morning from Sutton, West Vir ginia, after an absence of 14 months, and was . employed there in railroad construction. W. E. ' Miss Cora Hunt, who was success fully operated upon in a Portland hos pital for appendicitis, has been brought to her home in Willamette Falls, and is recovering from the effects of the operation. Frank H. Welsh returned Tuesday morning from the headwaters of the Clackamas, where the Financial Min ing Company's property is located. Engineer Windell, Charles Smith and D. J. Thorn are now at the mines. D. T. Warner, a prosperous farmer and wool buyer of Estacada, was iu this city last Saturday attending to some important business. Mr. Warner states Mie has purchased 5000 pieces of wool this year in Clackamas county. LOCAL NOTES Miss Derthlck Club. Derthick Musical and Literary Club met Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. C. G. Millei. Mrs. J. Eugene Hedges read a paper on "Pagauiui," the groat violiniot. Delicious refresh ments wtre served. The naxt meeting of the club will be on the afternoon of Friday. May 19, and the residence of Mrs. L. L." Porter. On Tuesday, May 16, the members of the club will give a picnic at Meldrum's Grove, to which the husbands of the members will be guests. Moehuke brought suit to set aside a deed. Charles Koellermeier's 8-year-old son received injuries to his face Mon day and was brought here for surgical attendance.
