Lernard Wehner, who has been working for Mr. Smith the past few months, went home to help a few days last week, but has returned. Leonard is an agreeable young man and we are glad to see him back among us again. The young men of Macksburg and its suburbs met on the baseball ground in Smith's Grove last 'Sunday afternoon, and after arranging them selves into two opposing nines, played the first game of the season. J. W. Smith acted as umpire. The gnme stood 7 to 5 in favor of the winners. Next Sunday afternoon they will meet again to, organize a team for genuine work. Judging from appearances Macksburg should furnish a nine that could cross bats witli any of theni. Practice, though, makes perfect. Jim Mitts, odt road supervisor, Jias a force of men repairing the roads. Mrs. Klmeler and daughter, Ella, visited with Mrs. L. E. Armstrong to day. Macksburg came very near having a funeral lust week. The town is still in mourning over the possibilities. Oharlie Morris and Leonard Welmer, two of our popular young men, went to a dance in Cams Saturday night in a cart. For some unexplainable reason, whether their minds were ab sorbed with thoughts oi Cams girls or whatnot, their horse seems to have taken its own course and took to the woods, throwing the boys to the ground, bruising them seriously. James Lee, a former resident of Clackamas county, was seen in Mad ras one day last week, The school on Agency Plains closed last Tuesday, after a very successful term.
