We had a little snow and a hard breeze in this burg last week, The thermometer registered 10 de grees above zero on Saturday morning. There is a great deal of sickness here. Lagrippe is the prevailing dis ease. Mrs. Geo. Ely is up again after an attack of lagrippe. The children were sick, too. Mrs. Hall and Miss Norah Curran are both on the sick list. Mrs. Matohet is under the doctor's care. Charley Dickey is also on the sick liet. Deacon Andrews pud a few other men are putting a new fence around the church this week. Tlie school children are having their mid-year tests this week. Croup. Mrs. Newbury was called to Port land Snuday on account of her daugh ter, Kate, being very sick. They both returned Monday evening. Pleurisy seemed to be the ailment. We are pleased to report her condition much improved. ? Will Critescr was on the sick list several days last week. The thermometer pointed to 16 above zero Saturday morning, and the boys are making good use of the ice on the mill pond. . The New Era Mutual Telephone Co. held a meeting Saturday afternoon in theW. C. T. U. hall for the pur pose of settling all bills against the company, equalizing the cost of the line to each member, which was 5.70 each. This amount pays for labor and material of main line. Each member pays for his phone and private line to main line. Messrs. Chas. Baker and J. L. Kruse, preisdent and secretary of a telpehone company on the west side of the river, were present at our meeting for the purpose of getting information for printing a telephone directory.
