Canby defeated the Western Stars of Mission Bottom by a score of 7 to 2 last Sunday. This was the best game Dlayed on Canby grounds for some time. The battery for Canby 'was Claude Baty and Volney White; for Western Stars, Slocum and Lick. Struck out by Baty 11; 'by Mocum 4. Umpire, AJam .Knight. There will be no game the 17th, but on 1 he 24th, the' Allen and Lewis, team'-of Portland will play.the local,'team. This will pea good game.' '" , . ' There was a horse race at - Canby last, unday between'two . parties from Beaver Creek. .It was a close race '-but they did "not succeed ."in carrying .off any: Canby money. The Degree of Honor gave an icecream social July 9 in the grove adjoining the 0. O. F. Hall. A large crowd was present and all seemed to enjoy them selves. Clackamas has an unusually large number of young people, especially girls, for the size of the place. Miss Agnes Hartnell is attending : a summer school in Portland. Mr.Knowles and family have moved from H. E. Cross' house to Seventh street. Mrs. Harlan and daughter are moving to Portland this week. She has sold her house and lot to A. L.Jones of Carus. Grandma Jones will occupy the house. Will Hanklns who has been at Forest Grove came home last week accompanied by his wife. ' K' The Moehnke house on Molalla avenue is being raised about four feet and new wainscoting and steps for improvement. Messrs. J. D1 Locke and Chas.
