Fred Roth who has been ill from typ hoid fever has left to enter his class at 0. A O. The two barns of John Himmelman a farmer, who resides two miles east of Canby were destroyed early Saturday morning by fire. Three horses, 35 tons of hay, some tools and chickens were burned, The grauary caught on fire but was extinguished before doing much damage, The insurance of $800 waB on the barn and stock. It is thought the fire was of incendiary origin. Misses Emma Evans and Grace Hamp ton were Oregon City visitors Saturday, A large crowd of Canby people at tended the dance at Union hall Saturday night. Every one had a fine time, and everything passed off peaceably and we hope Union hall will haveanotherdance in the near future. Otto Evans has accepted a position with a tea company in Portland and goes to work Monday. Miss Marian Swanby, who is staying in Portland this winter visited relatives in Canby Sunday. Hon. George Knight has refitted his store bnildino- putting in a new front new roof and adding a coat of paint. School commenced here Monday with Prof. A. T. Winches, principal; Mrs. Winches, intermediate and Miss Vesta Knight, primary. Canby is to be con gratulated on securing such an efficient corps of experienced teachers and patrons are looking forward to good re sults this winter. Rev. McPherson, our Methodist minister during the past year has left for Marsfield Oregon. Mis. Klinger and danghter, Ella re turned from Mack8burg where they have spent the last two weeks. Married at Oregon City last Thursday II. A.Vorpahl and Rebecca E. Selz.both of Canby. The Courier wishes them success in their new voyage of life. Mr. C. C. Claueon has sold his crop of prunes about T2 tons of Italians to Telitson. The price paid was about $360 net perj acre. Don't forget the dance at Canby Oct. 31st. Well Levi, we will milk the cows and feed tbe pigs. N. H. Durnell and son, Johnny, has moved on the J, F. Coats place. Rumor says, Ray Austin and Miss Emma Case were married last Sunday. To Organize a Society In Clackamas County and Have Re unions. At the meeting of those interested last Saturday in this city, steps were taken toward! the oreanization of a society called the Native Sons and Daughters of Clackamas county. Tba socieiy has no connection, nor is it in any way like, the old order of Native Sons, a lodge of which at one time existed in this city. At the meeting Saturday, which was held in the office of O.
