OREGON CITY COURIER, -FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER H 1903." The DsnnprPniS Of the American working man is gen erally well filled. In some cases it is too well filled. It contains too many kinds of food, and very often the food is of the wrouir kind hard to digest and i-uuiuiumg nuie nutri tion. As a conse quence many a work ing man develops some form of stomach trouble which inter feres with his health and reduces his work ing capacity. Where there is indigestion or A, any other indi- WLZ cation of dis- P-, ease of the stom- 0 a c h and its allied organs of digestion and nu trition, the use of Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery will almost invari ably produce a per fect and perman ent cure. Mr. Thomas A. Swarts, of Sub .Station C, Columbus, ()., Bor 103, writes: "I was taken with severe headache, then cramps in the stomach, and my food would not digest, then kidney and liver trouble and my back got weak so I could scarcely get around. At last I had all the com plaints at once, the more I doctored the worse I got until six years passed. I had become so poorly I could only walk in the house by the aid of a chair, and I got so thin I had given up to die, thinking that I could not be cured. Then one of my neighbor said, ' Take my advice and take Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery and make a new man out of yourself.' . The first bottle helped me so I thought I -would get another, and after I had taken eight bottles in about six weeks, I was weighed, and found I had gained twenty-seven (rj) pounds. I am aa tout and healthy to-day, I think, as I ever was." Free. Dr. Pierce's Common Sense Medical Adviser, paper covers, is sent free on receipt 01 21 one-cent st expense of mailing only. &. V. Several years ago when "Uncle Joe" Cannon, the next speaker of the House of Representatives, was living at the Cochran Hotel be had with him as a dinner guest one of his constituents from Illinois. It happened to be the time of the year when sweet corn on the cob was a portion of the bill of fare. "Uncle Joe" likes corn and he is never happier than when he is shew ing it off tbe cob. At this dinner he had his usual good appe'ite with him and in a ve y short time had disposed of the hrBt order of corn. He beckoned the waiter and placed another order. A few minutes later he ordered another supply and finally requested that the fourth or der be served. He had vey carefully piled the cobs on a dish in front of him and there was quite a heap of them is this a good hotel," inquired Mr. Cannon's constituent. "Yes, it is a pretty good hotel," re plied the Congressman. ' Very expensive?" "'YeB, pretty expensive. In fact it takes most of the money I receive from the Government to pay my hotel bill," replied Cannon, as he tossed another clean cob on the pile. ' "Well rlnn't. mil think it. would be cheaper for vou to board at a livery sta-1 ble?" Suggested the constituent, who was eyeing the big pile of cobs in front of his distinguished host.
