Roberts were deeply grieved to learn of his death, which, while tiot wholly unexepected, was at least very sudden. After a short illness, he sud denly became worse, and died at 8 o'clock on the morning of Januar 8, The funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. Jones, of Portland, in the pres ence of a large concourse of relatives and friends. Interment took place at the Presbyterian cemetery on Sunday, Jan uary 11, at 2 o'clock.
