LOCAL EVENTS. Bhoke His Neck. Insac Stonier, aged SO, fell over an 80-foot precipice nearCurrinsville and broke liis neck last week. He reft the residence of Ills daughter, Mrs. M. Kandle, Thursday morning to go fishing it the Clackamas. Ashe did not reiurn at niulit, search waB instituted, about 40 of the citizen of the neighborhood joining in the hunt. The whole country was sioured four days, and Sunday niiilit tlm lifeless body was found at the foot of the cliff where it hail fallen, within a few feet of the brink of the river. An examina tion of the corpse showed the neck to have been broken. The coroner's jury on Mom'ay found the dentil to have resulted from accident. Mr. Stonier was born In Tennesse in 1816. He came to Oregon in 1832, residing post of the time since then in tliU county Ten children live in the Willamette valley. The deceased was a Freemason and the burial was under the auspices of the lodge of that order at Viola, Monday evening. Reliable Insurance F. E Donaldson. Pope, last Wednesday evening, was a popular as well as a pretty affair. Mrs E. . William played the wedding march while the party passed through a gate of clusters of marguerites.npened by two little flower girls, into the parlor. The ceremony was performed by Rev. S. W. Stryker and the bridesmaid was Miss Florence Morey and the best man was Dr. E.A. Summer. The interior was handsomely decorated with a profusion of various flowers. Mrs. M. J. Carr, aged 31, a' member of the Salvation Army, was committed to asylum at Salem on Friday last. Jas E. D'Arcy , aged 51, a resident of Hod River, was Bent up the same day. He visited the spirtualist campmeeting at New Era, alter which he seemed deranged. The school board has engaged Pro fessor Martin of Portland f"r the posi tion of vice-principal of the Barclay school, in place of P. M. Weddell, who resigned to take a principalship in Port' land. Miss Gertrude. Nefzger has been secured for the position made vacant by the resignation of Miss Monroe, who will teach in Portland. CANEMAH. Mrs. E.J. Marshal, accompanied by bv her grand daughter, has returned from a visit to The Dalles. Master Beldon Ganong has gone on a visit to relatives at Barlow. Two of the Canemah junior hard workers left on a job hunting trip last Tuesday. They talked as if they were going to stay for ever, but they made their appearance about Thursday.
