The steamer Grey Eagle has been busy towing logs for the palp mills. ' Mr. Porter, our efficient road super visor, has began working on the road. It is in a very bad condition. ' . ; Saturday night, April lltb, a man went into the cell er of Mr. Tarney and took some provisions. He must have had an extra amount of gall, because he was not satisfied with what he secured in the night, so he returned Sunday morning. This time he went into the housejndbtained fSO jn cas,;. He must have been acquainted to a certain extent, for he made his vimt while Mr. Turney was not at home. No trace has been found. At the last meeting of the Canemah school literary Bociety the question for debate was, "Resolved, That the works of nature are more beautiful than the works of art." It was decided In favor of the affirmative by the school. The school is progressing nicely ander the management of Mr Hackett and Ming Chase But it seem as if the people of Canemah have lost all thel r Interest in the Canemah school since the new building wis erected, and if such remains the caie we had better go back to the old btlldlng. It looked to a stranger who recently came here, that the people of rnemab would walk two miles to get ont of the way of the school bouse. ErerylMdy should be glad to restore the interest and it is hoped that it will not remain in this state till 1900 . April XL 8)uabb Root. C9UNTY COURT.
