Mr aud Mrs. Weitwenborn returned
Tuesday from Glencoe, where they have
been visiting their daughter, Mrs.
Walters. A new grandson causes
smiles to spread over their jolly face,
iliaa Annie Weissenborn left on Friday
for Glencoe to spend a few weeks with
her sister.
John Q. Gage got home on Saturday
from Little Nestucca country. John
came in on horse bad and reports the
roads over the coast mountains in fairly
good condition. The mountains are
still bare but down near the sea level
the swamp grass and woolen breeches
'is 8 or 10 inches high. . Tide grass i 4
to 6 inches high and stock is looking

Mrs. Jake Schats has been down with
pneumonia for some time and is not
yet able to be out.
Koad-boss Baker is not satisfied with

work plowing and grading and other
wise preparing for the road of the future,
such as we take pleasure in reading
about.
The Oswego butcher has been here
buying np some tut sheep. We hear he
gave 2.75 per head.
Whore peaches got damaged by the
recent frosts? Or rather whose did not?
Oh yes! We have seen the instrument,

neighbor, Mr. Gige. The rain machine
is what is taking our eye now. Talk
about "rain makers," why ! we have not
seen a clear day since Mr. Gage sol that

We have not heard of any one having
to send freight money to Frisco this

their spuds. The lowest prices received

HOOD VIEW.
I Died, at the home of her mother,
Mrs. J. D. Bell, of Newburg, on the
morning ol April 8, at the age of 20
years, 9 months and 20 days, Mrs.
Frankie Brown, wife of Barton L.
Brown, now residing at Clackamas in
this county.
' ' Mrs. Brown wai well and favorably
known here having spent most of her
li.e in this county. She leaves her
husband, one son (Dale) 4 years old, a
mother, three sisters and one brother,
besides relatives and numerous friends
lo mourn her early departure. She bad
been a very patient sufferer for nearly
four years past. The entertainment
took plvce Wednesday at 1 p. m. at the
Pluasant Hill cemetery, the family rest
ing place. Services were conducted by
Bey . Jerome Barber of this place. Many
of, the deceased friends were not per
mitted to attend on account of the news

! Miss Louiot Bell, as she was known
as a girl, was loved as a young lady, she
was much loved a Mrs. Frankie
Brown, she was also loved by all who
knew her. She being kind to all, gen
erous, and forgiving In every respect,
and Vas a devoted member of the
Congregational church of Hood View
and while health and strength lasted
was a great worker in this faith .

The general health in the neighbor

A beautilul bouquet waa presented to
your correnponde'nt by M 1. Hamuiet of
El wood. There were 14 or 13 different
kinds of flowers. Mrs. Haramet is an
expert florist.
Mr. Wm. Ball of Colton starts for
Baker City, Eastern Oregon, in a few
days, intending to-work in the mines.
E. Short and Wife spent the night of
the 8th iust. with Mr. and Mra. Gorhett.
He had just got through attending a
protracted meeting at Highland.
He expect to return in May.
Carl S. Green in improving his 40 acres
by having the underbrush cut out ef
ihe timber and as the public road runs
along by one side it will bean advantage
to the road .
A Mr. Green of Woodbnrn is preach
ing at the Wright school house. Those
that have beard him speak well of bis
preaching.
The Colton school is progressing floe.

go home on account of the sickness of

There' will be a basket social and
dance at the Grange ball, near Mulino,
on Saturday evening, April 25th.
