Mr. C 's black eyes have turned to a blood shot color and his chicken scratches are greatly improved. A. B. Linn is building a new fence and chicken house and otherwise im proving his big-little farm . Mr. McGrath is on the sick list. Ed. Noble was at Linn's mill Saturday March 16lh. This tine weather encourages spring work and farmers are busy. Stock looks well, but the few days of a cold snap made the people feel blue as feed was getting short but this fine weather drives the blues away. Grass seems to be growing and everything seems to be moving right along but if it is hard times there is no use to get down in the mouth ; cheer up and carry a bright face. We do not know how much a cheerful face will do. Mr. Byees lost a hone lately and he s little able to buy another. A good many were working on Sunday ( thinking the weather is so fine that it wont last always. We are glad to hear that the sick are about all well again. The roads are getting fine and in some spots the dust is fl ing. J. W. Smith has purchased five head Everybody is tukingiidvantage of th e fine weather unci are getting their crops in. ' J. U. Wolgcmot and O. W. Sturgels are going to plant 4 bushels of almonds this spring. Several patches of potatoes have been plunted already . Ribe has rented the Lee farm and moved onto it. ' Albert H. Lee has gone east nf the mountains and has rented his place Co L. Schull. J. Hodges has rented his place to a man from the East Judge A. E. Waite was in town this week . Henry Knight will lose bis arm. Mr. Backet has moved to Canby. S. Garrison, F. Weed and G. Knight are still in the hoop business. The 8. P. Co. talk of starting the steam shovel in the gravel pit. Mr. Waite is the new road boss. Several parties here will not tend their hops this year. 8. E. Cox has gone to Oswego to work for Walling & Jerrish. Mr. Summons has the management of the Willamette Land Co's 150 acre prune orchard and has five men at work. W. Johnson has moved back to Canby after residing in Molalla for the last few years. The street commissioner is doing some good work on B and Front streets. Mr. Rider is doing considerable grub bing on bis place. L. D. Shank has 50 acres ready to sow He has sown some oats. Hay is worth $4.50 here. The spring school starts today, the 10th, .with Miss Sumner and Miss Mc Glufman as teacherB. March 10th. Nero. By this method the chapel has been crowd ed to an average attendence of 70. There was an invitation dance at Stokes' ball Thursday evening. A good tiire was reported. Jamen Freeman has sold his house to Mr. Godfrey of Clackamas. Last Friday Mr. Stoke' horse at tempted to take an outing. It was overtaken at Needy the next day. There was quite a crowd out; after the election Mr. White from Canby made a speech. Our school will commence to morrow with F. L. Coleman as teacher.
