Dr. J. L. Hurl liurt, superintendent of the Sunday school department of Chautauqua work, will address a union meeting of the churches on "The Chautauqua Idea" at the Congregational church next Sun day evening. Dr. Hurlburt is visiting the Methodist conferences of the coast and is now the guest of Dr. Locke of Portland- All stockholders and mem bers of Chautauqua circles are specially invited. Monday morning Dr. Hurlburt will visit the Park and in the afternoon will meet the directors of the Willamette Valley Chautauqua for a talk on plans for the future. Joseph Heeges' Will. The will of the late Joseph Hedges was admitted to probate this week. It distributes the estate, valued at $15,000, as follows : To his widow, Mrs. E J. Hedges, lots 3, 4, 6 and 6 of block 20 in Canemah and one-half of balance when converted into cash ; the other half to be divided into seven parts among the following child sen: Mary J. Jacobs, John B. Hedges, Elisabeth A. Long, Wm A. Hedges, Joseph Eugene Hedges, Gilbert L. Hedges and Frederick R. Hedges. A Bit op History. Leighton Kelly killed a deer while there. Constable "Jinks" McCown and De puty Sheriff M. Hyatt have returned after a week's search for unlawful killing of elk at the headwaters of the Clacka mas.' They found that 12 elk had been killed by Alvis Russell and Charles Knowles and the meat dried for use bnt no evidence of wanton slaughter. Gilbert Hedges left for the East on Tuesday to resume his law studies at Yale college. Laurence Driggi will leave on Saturday for Ann Arbor where he will finish a law and scientific course.
