Obituaries
Russell Donathan Dillman
Russell Donathan Dillman was
born on Dec. 6, 1948 on the U.S.S.
Repose off the coast of Qingdao,
China, the fi rst child and only son
to Carolyn T. Ivey Dillman and
Theodore E. Dillman, who was
serving as a doctor in the U.S.
Navy at that time. Russ set sail to
other shores on Tuesday, July 28,
2015.
Russ grew up in Vancouver,
graduating from Hudson’s Bay
High School in 1967, and com-
pleting a B.S. degree in Psycholo-
gy at Central Washington Univer-
sity. He later earned his Master’s
in Teaching at Lewis and Clark
College.
Career paths found him serv-
ing in the fi elds of mental-health,
education (high-school: Franklin
H.S., Portland, OR), and academic
textbook sales for McDougal-Lit-
tell.
Russ had several passions: he
was a reader of poetry and litera-
ture; an avid traveler; a connois-
seur of jazz—he, himself, played

A celebration of Russ’s life was
held Aug. 9. In lieu of fl owers,
donations may be made in Russ’s

ments entrusted to Hustad Funeral
Home.
The family gives heartfelt thanks
to the staff at Marquis Care at Mt.
Tabor for his care during these
many months.
Corrine H. Fransen
Dec. 7, 1928 - July 25, 2015
saxophone and piano; a lover of
the outdoors and gardening; a fan
of puzzles and games; a golfer and
a bowler; and a dedicated volun-
teer with the Friends of Trees. He
loved “his girls” (daughters, sis-
ters/step-sisters, signifi cant-oth-
ers) and adored his grandchildren,
nieces and nephews. He knew no
strangers.
Russ is survived by three daugh-
Corrine passed away in the ear-
ly hours of July 25, 2015 in
Portland, OR. She was born in
Lebanon, South Dakota the 4th
of 5 children to Harry and Della
Swisher. After Corrine and Dar-
rell married in 1946 they moved
to Portland where they raised
their six children. She was very
active supporting her children
and the St. Johns community
over the years by volunteering in
many organizations from PTA to
Meals on Wheels.
Corrine is survived by her hus-
band, Darrell, their six children
and families, as well as two sis-
ters, her buddy, Susie in Port-
land and Mavis in Idaho.
