Within just a few minutes, Rescue Craft 1 from Station 1 arrived and loaded the man onto the rescue craft. They then transported him to the Portland Fire dock at Sta- tion 21, which is at the east end of the Hawthorne Bridge. The man was load- ed onto an ambulance and transported Hours: Mon-Sat: 8am - 6pm to Emanuel Hospital for evaluation. In addition to the fi reboats that Portland Fire operates, they have two “Rescue Crafts”, which are fast, highly maneu- verable Sea-Doo watercraft. They car- ry a boat operator and a rescue swim- mer. These rapid-deployment vessels provide for a timely response and can often get rescuers to the scene within minutes of being deployed. _____________________________ 10 VEHICLES DAMAGED BY BB GUNS - TWO ARRESTED News Release from Portland Police Bureau FlashAlert: July 7th, 2015 1:00 PM On Monday July 6, 2015, at 9:42 p.m., North Precinct offi cers responded to the area of N Greeley Ave and Dekum St after a caller reported a possible drive-by shooting. Offi cers arrived in the area and located 10 vehicles in the immediate area that had dam- age caused by a BB gun. Witnesses provided suspect vehicle information as a gray or silver Mercedes SUV. At 10:35 p.m., a North Precinct offi cer spotted a vehicle matching the sus- pect’s description in the 4400 block of N Vancouver Avenue. The offi cer stopped the driver and occupants and discovered open CO2 cartridges and BB pellets inside the vehicle. During the investigation, a BB rifl e and three BB handguns were seized from the vehicle. Two of the three occupants were arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief in the First Degree and Discharge of a Firearm in the City. 18-year-old Daniel Bernard Piehl was booked into the Multnomah County jail and 17-year-old Mar- cus Paul Raiford was lodged at the Donald E. Long Juvenile Deten- tion Home. Offi cers arrived in the area and contacted employees who told police that the suspect entered the business, pointed a handgun at the clerk, and obtained an undisclosed amount of money before leaving the store without incident. Several offi - cers, including a Police K-9, searched the neighborhood but did not locate anyone matching the suspect’s de- scription. The suspect is described as an African American male, 5’7” tall, thin build, wearing dark-colored shorts, a light-colored t-shirt, and a knit cap. The driver, 33-year-old Joshua Kerr Gann, was arrested and interviewed by GET de- tectives investigating the shooting. Gann was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unlaw- ful Use of a Weapon and Carrying a Loaded Firearm within City Limits. This investigation started on June 10, 2015, at 10:54 p.m., when North Pre- cinct offi cers responded to the area of North Ainsworth Street and Commer- cial Avenue on the report of gunshots and a vehicle speeding out of the area. GET offi cers and detectives developed witness information in the case, lead- ing to Gann’s arrest.
