2015 ROSE FESTIVAL COURT ANNOUNCES FIRST ROUND WINNERS
Roosevelt to announce Rose Festival Princess Tuesday, March 17, 2015
A special Valentine’s Day card
was delivered to 51 young ladies
as they found out they were select-
ed as fi nalists for the 2015 Rose
Festival Court Program. Up to 104
young ladies completed the fi rst
round of judging for the 2015 Rose
Festival Court presented by Unitus
Community Credit Union Satur-
day, February 14 at the Providence
Portland Medical Center.
Each applicant gave a one min-
ute introduction and a one minute
speech to a panel of community
volunteer judges. The fi nalists re-
turned in the afternoon for a fi nal
judging session to determine the
fi nal Princess candidates to be an-
nounced in March.
Junior and senior girls from class
4A to 6A schools in the tri-county
area who have a grade point aver-
age of 3.0 or higher and 20 hours
of verifi able community service
were eligible.
Candidates represented the 13 tra-
ditional Portland Schools as well
as the East Metro with students
from Clackamas and East Mult-
nomah Counties and West Metro
students primarily representing
Washington County schools.
Nine juniors qualifi ed this year
for the fi nal round. Metro schools
represented in Metro West include:
Century, Clencoe, Valley Catho-
lic, and Tigard. In Metro East: La
Salle Catholic, Lake Oswego, and
Reynolds are represented.
Participating Portland schools
will conduct a school wide vote
to add to the judging results and
the winning Princesses will be
announced between March 3 and
March 20. Members of the 2015
Rose Festival Court receive a
$3,500 scholarship provided by
The Randall Group.
Kicking off the largest specta-
tor event day in Oregon, the 2015
Portland Rose Festival Queen will
be crowned at the Queen’s Coro-
nation presented by Unitus Com-
munity Credit Union Saturday,
June 6 at 9:15 a.m. just before the
Bank of the West Grand Floral
Walk at 9:30 a.m. and the Spirit
Mountain Casino Grand Floral Pa-
rade at 10 a.m.
