Bulicu was born in Gun dy county, Mo., July 20, 1851. Died in Los Angeles, Cal., Nov. 18, 1022. Mr. Bclicu was left au orphan at an early age and was raised, by a sister who still lives in Iowa and very near 100 years old. Tho family originally came from France were the name was spelled Ballon. Many of the family still retain that speling. Some of the Bullous wore well known publishers. Many of tho family were ministers ami pro fessional men. His father, three of his brothers and grand father were Baptist ministers. J lis grand father's sister, Eliza Be lieu, was the mother of President Garfield. Mr. Belieu spent sev eral years at Hood Itivej;whero ho contracted and did carpenter work. Many beautiful homes throughout tho valley woro built by him. Ho camo to St. Johns iu 1006 and has resided hero since. On August 27, 1871, Mr. Belieu was married to Sarah I. Cox iu Decatur county, lown. Mrs. Belieu passed away in St. Johns on March G, 1920, thus breaking minion of nearly 50 years. Seven ehidren wcro born to this union. All havo passed on but three Mrs. J. I). On Octobor 10, 1021 1 Mr. Belieu was married to Mrs. t . M. Tluruton, who with hen jkiiiiiv remain, jus body was brought back and funeral ser vice held Saturday afternoon.
