i' Celebrates 87th Birthday Mrs. R. S. Zierden quietly ob sorved hur 87th birthay miniver sary. Mrs. Rebecca S. Zierden (Mrs. Nicholas Zierden) of 119 Enst Scriner avenue, Willinmsport, Pa., was born in 1835 in St. George, New Brunswick, Cnnuda, and was the youngest o seven children of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Spafford. In 1GI18 her paternal forefathers, John and Mary Spafford, emigrated from York shire, England, and settled in Rowley, Essex county, Massnehii' setts. The descendents of these were some of the valiant "Green Mountain Hoys" of Revolution ary .fame. Mrs. Zierden is one of the seventh generation of this John and Mary Spnlford. Her maternal forefathers were of Hie line of English Stewarts, also of tho Prince of the House of Or migo (each family giving Or ange as a name to their eldest son). These forcfolks settled in tho colonies (Connecticut). At the outbreak of the Revolution ary War they were too loyal to take up arms against the king, ho leaving lands and cattle, mi grated to St. George, New Ilnins wick, to the king's domain, where Mrs. Zierden was born. She has one daughter, Mrs. I'Ved Dryniui living in Portland, Oregon, also two neiccs, Mrs. Harold J look ham, fi'Jfi E. Mohawk street, and Mrs. Horatio G. Freeman, at 708 Hudson street. Mrs. Zierden spent the day quietly receiving the hearty congratulations of a largo number of friends and rel atives. Mrs. Zierden has visited St. Johns a number of times and has a number of friends and rela tives living here. Kopoi-lcd.
